One-man Lord of the Rings

Post by donniedarko » Thu Apr 14, 2011 10:32 pm

I was fortunate enough to see Charlie Ross' new show tonight, the one-man 'Lord of the Rings'

60 minutes, no props, no costumes, just one man re-enacting the LOTR trilogy on stage at QPAC.

Utterly manically brilliant.

Brisbanites - catch if you can, even just for his impersonation of Gimli saying 'you shall have my Axe!!! and!! my hair!!'

Caught him promoting his show on jjj one morning, a while ago. Seemed quite funny... if you're into the LotR thang, I guess.

I thought that the movies came reasonabley close to doing the books justice.

Way back when saw a one-man show in the Adelaide Festival or Fringe.

Thought it was OK.

’Course, that was after a pretty good spliff! Generally that category of fiction, blech, not my cuppa.

Too much so.

Films should be stand alone, and it dragged on so that it could "do justice".
