Origin -vrs- Integral energy political sensitivity?

I called my 'friendly' electricity provider today, and upon my asking "Is this Origin"...given they didn't say what or who they were, they just responded with "May I help you when I called."...(billing discrepancy)...the woman became rather stand-offish.



They were hesitant, and asked if I were media.

Ok, I am media , but lol, this was actually a personal call, was merely calling my bloody power provider,Jeeze!

Journalists, or those training to be such pay bills too you know...

Anyway...


She then went into this almost disgruntled spool about how it's both "Integral and Origin", NOT JUST "ORIGIN" as I had suggested.....then asked why I had called it Origin... (paranoid much, talk about the third degree)...I said "Well, the name Origin is afterall on my billing letter-head." She then insisted that "Integral" was also on the letterhead (which it is)...at which point I excused myself, and apologised if my having referred to them as being the actual company who bought Integral out recently as being "Origin" ...when she collected herself, remembered I was an actual consumer, (not the media, given I did afterall provide my customer ref-number at the beginning of the call)....and then gave me the information I needed.


Anyone want to explain this?

Actually, they gave me a guestimate, (didn't read my meter AGAIN) despite my leaving the gate open, no dogs, easy access etc.


So... cut back on power usage = get slogged again as you would when you were using more power.

Well, yes, first level help desk staff are idiots.

Thankfully, most customers who phone them arn't much smarter

No conspiracy, just the odd remarks of one staff member re- their questioning me if I were media, this and asking why I referred to them as Origin having put them on the defense struck me odd, I was more surprised than anything else I guess.

I had no idea it was a secret.

Or politically incorrect to refer to them as the company who bought them out.
