How did you decide that supernatural forces were at play rather than garden-variety chance? The corollary of "I nearly died in an accident therefore god" is, of course, "I did die in an accident, therefore no god". There are a few thousand dead Japanese people who would tell you there is no god if they could.lisa jones wrote:LMAO!Swami Dring wrote:This thread will be a counselling service for theists.
The way it will work is..............you tell me why you believe in god, and I'll tell you why you're an idiot.
Ok here I am Swami .. and many thanks for your invitation.
Let me TRY and give you a brief summary of why I believe in God.
God's always been an impt part of my life and He has always been a central part of my life.
Ever since childhood I could recall freaky and scary things which happened to me and should have killed me. And there's always been some supernatural intervening force that's interrupted things and allowed me to live.
How has he made himself known to you? And who is "he"? Zeus? Thor? Allah?lisa jones wrote:I wish I could go into much more detail on here about what I've just stated. I've done this face to face over many hours with a few atheist and agnostic friends .. and what I've been able to share with them consisted of actual and dreadful real life experiences. They've all came away challenged and more open to the idea that God is very much someone real. And that is exactly what He is to me .. someone real. Why? Because for whatever reason HE has made Himself known to me throughout my life.
The bible is a steaming loaf.lisa jones wrote:Swami .. I'm a very unusual theist in that I seem to attract atheists and agnostics rather than repel them for some reason. Oh and I've found that they love asking me many questions about the Bible too (I think it's probably because they're too lazy to read it themselves and they know that I know the answers already lol ).
