Admitedly the worst example of scandal in recent times would be the NSW Labor state pollie who gave weed and grog to his underage boyfriend in his office.

Then again it hardly compares to the old Askin Lib days of NSW. And Abe Safron had dirt on every single one of them.

It was the Askin scandals that made Don Chipp spit his liberal dummy and form the Dems ... "To keep the bastards honest"

Because the charges could only be proved with the use of the Synecdoche tapes, the men challenged the prosecution's right to use them on several occasions. They failed. Burkett's links would surface again in 1994, when then planning minister Richard Lewis sacked him because an undercover police inquiry had revealed John Kizon and Rai Fazio had visited his office.

Then, in 2003, a Corruption and Crime Commission probe revealed Mr Burkett, at the time the chief of staff for racing and gaming minister Nick Griffiths, was getting $5000 for child-care centre developments he helped guide through planning and rezoning approvals. The CCC inquiry resulted in Burkett being sentenced to 14 months jail for corruption and revealed that he was still doing favours for John Kizon.

Well I've gone through many pages and failed to find the specific case I mentioned, but it was within the last 10 years.
Long forgetten pollie's name and whether he was fed or state pollie, but I remember when he got done, gobbing off to someone about pollies being the biggest crims .. blah blah rant rant.
