Re: Veg nazis
All the vegans I know LOOK pale and thin .. they just have this sick look about them.
At one stage I worked with a very lovely female colleague who was a vegan. She was forever eating something in order to maintain her energy levels. She LOOKED sick, pale and thin all the time. It was depressing to see. And she was hyper sensitive to coughs/colds/flus/chest infections. Lovely woman .. just always UNWELL.

I don't care what people do or eat either. So how do Vegans (as opposed to Vegetarians) get their daily vitamins, etc.? Take pills? The parents neglected their child. The 13 year old probably trades food at school.Sappho wrote:
just the usual beginner foods... cereal and breast milk
Look I don't have a problem with vegans or what not... they can be very healthy, although they do have to work harder at it than the rest of us. This is not about whether they are vegan's and the paper is wrong to put that slant on it... this is about neglect. They neglected to feed their baby. They neglected give their child medical attention for a chest problem. the illness was compounded by malnutrition.

Re: Veg nazis
Then there was my cousin's wife. She was an awesome person BUT she was ever so fussy about food. She too was a vegan.
It was difficult to relax to eat in front of her .. and she made you feel nervous with her fussy food habits. Everything had to be organic and vegan and this and that. Ok it was her life her choice .. but everyone else around her felt uneasy about her attitude to food. It didn't come across as "normal".
Long story short .. she too was always pale and thin .. and of course sick. She fell pregnant and delivered a very small baby boy by Caesarean section. Within a week she was dead. The poor woman never came home from hospital. It was a dreadful time for our family. Her funeral was too sad for words.
Bottom line?
---> EAT YOUR TUCKER!

Watery in composition? You think?lisa jones wrote:Breast milk is very watery in constitution. So in essence .. the baby was being starved. It's a cruel way for a small vulnerable human being to die .. in front of your eyes. As a (normal and sane) mother .. it would be unbearable to see your little baby suffer for 1 second let alone for months.Sappho wrote:the key to this story is that they were only giving her breast milk, yet the baby was 11mths old. she should have been started on solids at 6mths max. many parents introduce the baby to solids prior to that.
This mother (and father) are both idiots and fully deserve the jail sentence they've been given.
If you haven't had children yourself, then you may be surprised to learn that whilst it's watery, (thinner than regular cows milk, more like skim milk) it's also very very nutritious,..and with it's almost sticky, oily composition, it contains over 100 complex minerals, scientist still have not been able to formulate, or even know what they do.
When looks can be deceiving.

Like someone else here already said, this mother would have been malnourished herself, breast feeding takes it out of even the more nourished mothers, my two sucked the life out of me...lol...chubby little sausages they were ....
Dont they haver baby clinics over in France?
This child would have been sickly and unwell, they should have picked this up... when was the infants last visit to the clinic?

I tried eating it a few times when I was in Darwin on business. It looked raw and very tender. The meat tasted ok. I just found I couldn't eat much of it though.skippy wrote:Roo meat is good for you, I dont eat it much, but my sister in law makes fantastic Roo burgers.lisa jones wrote:Onya Skippy lol!skippy wrote:Get some pork on your fork

Haha - I can't imagine the life being sucked out of you Mel - you've got too much energy, but we all know breast is best - although sometimes it's too difficult for the mother. There are some good formulas around.Like someone else here already said, this mother would have been malnourished herself, breast feeding takes it out of even the more nourished mothers, my two sucked the life out of me...lol...chubby little sausages they were ....
I started my children on cereals at about 4-5 months, then a few weeks later began adding strained vegetables with a tiny bit of meat. They went on to cows milk at about 10 months and were rosy and healthy.
You see babies who are a few months old who are pale and skinny and you wonder why the mother isn't concerned. Most caring parents take the baby to a clinic for the first few months to ensure they're gaining weight properly etc. These parents were definitely neglectful - but their case isn't uncommon. A fair few babies die of malnutrition and no-one notices anything until it's too late.
