Well, that was a waste of my time, wasn't it. Spliting the shit out of this thread, only to have it filled up again, with the authors blessing.

Go for it, losers.

Thanx Boxy. ;) Monk got side-tracked with trolling and I couldn't resist replying. He only uses the food thread to build up his post count anyhow. Anyone who really wants to know what/how to cook would avoid a PolAnimal Forum and instead go directly to a Food/Recipe Forum/Blog.

Looks bloody good:
Ingredients :

8 small pears, peeled, halved and cored with stems left intact
3 tbsp lemon juice
1 cup sugar
375 ml water
1 cinnamon stick, broken into pieces
2 tsp finely grated lemon rind
750 ml brandy
Method :
Place pear in a large bowl, pour over lemon juice and just enough water to cover pears.
Place sugar and 375 ml water in a large heavy based saucepan and cook over a low heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves.
Bring to the boil without stirring.
Add cinnamon stick and lemon rind.
Drain pears, add to pan and cook over a low heat for 10-15 minutes or until peas are just tender.
Arrange pears in hot sterilized jars.
Stir brandy into sugar syrup and pour over pears to completely cover, then seal.
Label when cold and store in a cool dark place for at least 4 weeks before using.
Makes 2 x 1.5 kg

Jovial Monk's Fruit Cake

Ingredients:

1 or 2 quarts Whiskey
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 large eggs
1 cup dried fruit
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup of nuts
1 oz of lemon juice

Mixing Instructions:

Before you start, sample the whiskey to check for quality. Good, isn't it? Now go ahead. Select a large mixing bowl, measuring cup, etc. Check the whiskey again as it must be just right. To be sure whiskey is of the highest quality, pour one level cup into a glass and drink it as fast as you can. Repeat.

With an electric mixer, beat 1 cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 tsp. of thugar and beat again. Meanwhile, make sure that the siskey is of the finest quality. Cry another cup.

Open the second quart is necessary. Add the 2 large eggs, 2 cups dried fruit and beat till high. If druit gest stuck in the beaters, juse pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the whiskey again, checking for toxscisticity.

Next sift 3 cups of the salt or anything: it really doesn't matter. Sample the whiskey. Sift 1/2 pint lemon juice.

Fold in chopped butter and strain nuts. Add one babblespoon of the brown thugar, or whatever color you can find and wix mel.

Grease oven and turn cake to 350 degrees. Now pour the whole mess into the coven and bake. Check whiskey again, and go to bed.

What sort of beverage would you suggest with your creations?
Mead maybe?
