The Government would have to offer low income households about $500 to $600 a year in tax cuts or welfare increases to cover the cost of a carbon tax on current estimates.
Surely they know that their carbon tax will cost far more than that...oh that's right they do, they are only hoping to sucker the loser vote who have no idea on who it is going to increase year on year, week on week, day on day.
Fuck me, this govt really should be tossed out as completely fucking incompetent
And that's just power alone. Remember, cutting taxes weren't part of the Greens corporate bargaining agreement CBA (vrs Howards EBA's) and they are what's steering this mangled train-wreck.
The only ones likely to reap the benefits of any sort of "tax-cut" are those who are unemployed and don't even pay tax themselves.
And even then, it wont be enough, this and will cut them deep in other areas, petrol, groceries, pharmaceuticals, goods and other services etc.
The very wealthy and the ultra poor may benefit to a degree, (minimal) but in the long run, we will all pay the Carbon-price, unless you happen to be BHP's/Westpack banks CEO.
It's a dangerous tax, one Gillard herself was opposed to initially when she advised Rudd pull the plug on his own very similar ETS.
Don't let Joolyu foolyu again, this is a domino -tax, once it starts, ....
