Our government and the UK have just released an urgent announcement for their/our citizens to leave Japan, which contrasts greatly to the rather benign recommendation-only Rudd issued yesterday.

This comes days after a number of other more responsible nations authorities already provided chartered flights for their citizens stranded in Japan to return home safely and uncontaminated.

There's no doubt, disaster is days away, if that, and Rudds left it too late, and now Australians are stranded, unable to get out as people flock to airports and book international flights, to any country ...just to get out of the Japan.

The Australian government need to put chartered flights on for Australians only, the way other nations have taken care of their citizens...sadly, given the increasing level of radiation and airport traffic, we may have left it too late.

Australia's diplomats, dignitaries, VIP's and media are now out, all that's left are 3rd class, and a friend of ours who is stranded and is still waiting for our government to provide chartered flights back home to Australia due to airport congestion.

Sadly, I think Gillard and Rudd have left it too late.

My friend describes an unsettling eerie silence sweeping over normally bustling Tokyo, Japan's citizens are now officially frightened, and realise it's only a matter of time.

I've just heard from my best mate, who's son is in Japan with my mates ex wife. My mate says he's made contact with his son and his son is OK. whats not OK is my mates ex wife is a dumbfuck and thinks its ok to stay in Japan and refuses to let my mates son leave and come home. My mate is shattered, his ex wife reckons there is no need to leave Japan and she is keeping his son there with her, she claims there is no danger to them. He thinks she's not getting the info we are about the risk. The poor bastard was in tears on the phone to me, he reckons he sent money to them yesterday so as they could leave the country and she went and spent it on bills and shit, he doesn't know what he can do, he says they're about 200 kms from the reactor, and his ex says they're ok, they dont seem to be getting the info we are, this is crazy.

Sounds like she is being spiteful Skippy at the expense of their son. Any sane person would be leaving if they could. All it will take is a good storm or strong wind and they'll be contaminated, although I'm sure this is being downplayed. It's possible it's already spread that far - but it's unlikely the authorities will broadcast it - to avoid mass panic.
