My daugther at 3 knows very well that the animation on TV is not real. They need to learn what is real and what is not. It's something that only experience can provide. Telling them lies of the Santa type is OK.
Baa baa black sheep is just adults bull shitting themselves. We should teach that everyone is different. Some sheep are white, some black and some are just crap and flyblown and need to be put down. I thought in today's world it is Ok to be gay so why can't Noddy be a raving gay. PC has got it wrong. On the one hand we must be tollerant and then on the other we must remove all reference or inuendo that adults perceive as gay. Bollocks it is all wrong. Let kids be kids.
We should be all against Barbie, she is clearly a tart who uses her sexuality to drive boys dolls wild and if not then Ken is truelly gay. Enough i say. The PC brigade needs to get some real balance. Tolerance of difference should be the message.... not hide the difference.
When did we stop believing in Santa Claus

Baa baa black sheep dates from the middle ages... and as with most children's rhymes of the time, it is a political protest against the Crown of the day and the excessive taxes paid on wool. They hid their protests in rhyme so as to avoid the silencing power of murder most foul.
Maybe the Russian Media should use rhyme also...

So we need a culturally sensitive mythical philanthropist to be a role model for children, and then it will be OK for Barbie to dump Ken for a Gollywog?

I learned this one.
Clearly racist but i did not realise that until into my teens. It was never explained what a nigger was. If it said "Abo" I would have got it the racism much earlier. I guess the "N" word was something we never used when I was growing up. It was a US term.Eeny, meena, mina, mo,
Catch a nigger by the toe;
If he squeals let him go,
Eena, meena, mina, mo.
This is what they teach today and I am comfortable with that. The "N" word is not acceptable as i guess "Abo" is not today.Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,
Catch the tiger/monkey/baby by the toe.
If it hollers/screams let him go,
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, you are it

I like that. Good point. Yes Golliwogs should have equal rights as the white Ken and they should be able to shag Barbie if Barbie want it.Outlaw Yogi wrote:So we need a culturally sensitive mythical philanthropist to be a role model for children, and then it will be OK for Barbie to dump Ken for a Gollywog?

Just like some loopy old boiler attempting to re-define the female body shape on a morning show today.
Rather than refer to apple or pear shaped female body types, this fem-bot argued doing so was 'dehumanising' so she's decided to try her luck naming them after artists, fancy a Da vinci or Rembrant body type anyone?
And if you are obese, and really like your pizza and cream cakes, how about a Pro hart body type, or would this be regarded offensive in some circles?
Art is as subjective, so if she's so hung-up on identity and not labelling woman's body types as fruit, why name them at all?
Some people might not like being called a Pro Hart.
