Gillards August 2010 media transcripts vanish

Well sMellie, I've done something about it. I've been in contact with Parliament House and for some strange reason they put me through to their internal IT department. I can tell you that from an internal IT perspective the media reports are still available and there are hundreds of them. I can tell you that no one person controls all govt web sites, that they are managed by the various and relevent departments so that all media releases for August 2010 are missing from all external web sites suggests that the departments have been directed to remove them, or, that all the feb govt external web sites have been hacked. The former possibility is the most logical and likely possibility.

So... I've emailed Neil Mitchell at 3AW and the Herald-Sun and spoke directly with the news desk at The Australian, who asked a lot of questions and showed a lot of interest. Let's just hope that they are as curious as I am to know the whereabouts of the missing ministerial missives.

Like I said in my opening post, we need to stop it, for both sides sake.

And as far as Howards published Anti-Terrorism Bill (No. 2) 2005...thats a bill, and a matter for national security to determine if this information should be made public or not, ..and has no bearing on Gillards pre-election, and even post election promises she made to her nation, and the key-independents she lied to also.

However, in this instance with respects to Gillard withholding campaign media transcripts, shes broken another election promise....and is in breach of FOI laws.

Good afternoon XXX,

Thank you for your enquiry.

There were indeed no Media Releases issued between the 6thof July – 9th of September, 2010. This is due to the 2010Federal Election which occurred 21st of August.

Prior to and following an election the incumbent Governmentassumes a ‘caretaker’ role, where no information is dispensedthrough official government channels, as this may lead to bias in an electionresult.

This is the same response that I got from Waine Swan's office.

There are some problems with this response.
a) there are media releases on the dates for which a media blackout was in force. (and now I have snap shots of that fact... just incase)
b) whilst the care-taker argument was valid for the dates in question, it has not been a valid argument since the government assumed full control of the office.
c) when were the media releases that fall within the media blackout period downloaded onto DEEWR?
i. If during the blackout period then we have had a bias election
ii. if after the blackout period then where are the rest of the media releases for that period.
iii. why are some and not all media releases from the period in question available
d) what law is the govt. now applying to justify the continued censorship of the remaining media releases from the period in question?

Obviously I have replied to this email and await a response.
