I would tread very carefully if I was you. You are better off giving the details to the internet fraud crime squad or contacting the ACCC.

It's not extortion at all, all I want is for this prick to honour my sons integrity, like I said, a little work experience would have been a nice gesture...a formal letter expressing his thanks, something my son could attach to his own resume even?

People put their volunteer RFS certificates in their resumes, why not a heart felt expression of gratitude, a letter from a global company's CEO to a 16 year old kid would be impressive enough, this in itself would slot quite nicely into his resume, don't you think?

I might even frame it, and put it on the wall. :D

He has asked my son to keep a secret to save his ass, but why should he, what has this CEO done to warrant my sons loyalty, confidence, respect?...or like so many egotistical CEO's , does he automatically assume his gravitas and mere Skype presence alone is grounds enough to demand a 16 year old boy keep a huge secret like this when like all kids, he'd get so much more enjoyment out of telling others what he's done.

The CEO thinks he can pull one over a 16 year old kid, he can think again!

I wish I knew the company, I'd be emailing mellies comments to the CEO so that he could pass them onto the police to investigate mellies attempt at extortion.

My son is a minor, and he has no business associating with him online or elsewhere much less requesting career favours to save his incompetent ass via Skype.

What is he ...some sort of deviot?

I am his mother, I am who calls the shots!

Pity you never will... know the name of the company, unless I feel it necessary.

Mel - it would depend on whether he thinks he can trust your son. Maybe he might think that his software would be even more compromised - if your son is really that smart.
People put their volunteer RFS certificates in their resumes, why not a heart felt expression of gratitude, a letter from a global company's CEO to a 16 year old kid would be impressive enough, this in itself would slot quite nicely into his resume, don't you think?

That would be acknowledging something in writing that a CEO might not want in writing until he's received advice. If everything is above board - your son will be rewarded - I'm sure of it, otherwise you'd better get some sort of witness protection.

It's too late now - half of cyberspace probably knows about it, but the CEO is dealing with a child and is probably seeking legal advice at this very moment, which is what most managers would do in a situation like this.

He can't reward your son immediately the way you believe he should - he has to get permission first.

This is why I plan to approach the situation sensibly Mantra, will give the CEO the benefit of the doubt, the opportunity to explain to me why he is asking my 16 year old son for personal career favours via Skype and email ... I wont have him taking advantage of my sons good nature, and deed.

Good deeds shan't go unrecognised or rewarded, especially when it comes to kids.

My son needs to learn when people are trying to screw him over to save themselves, and what better way of teaching him than from this worked example?
