Labors population 'strategy'

Post by mellie » Tue Mar 01, 2011 9:58 am

Drafted by not one, not two, but three independent cherry-picked 'sustainable population' review panels, devising 'strategy' not a promised 'policy Gillard promised when she appointed a Sustainable Populations Minister Tony Burke to doodle an illusive eagerly anticipated 'population policy' the same ALP policy treasury have been hounding them for since the federal election.

Now, I realise this is a rather long document, but the take home message is....(if you cant be bothered reading it)...yes, yet another Labor review panel, only this VERY SPECIAL policy required the expertise of 3.

There's a good reason why they have been procrastinating this sustainable population policy, this and will wait until the state elections are over and done with before producing their policy.

Why?

Well, ... culling our nations expanding white elephant (I'm sure you can figure this out), wont be easy, both Labor and Libs have become rather dependent on minority votes and immigrants over the years, and both know exactly what's required to sustain ourselves this and preserve our way of life for generations to come, it's just some 'factions' aren't going to like it at all, given they have spent the last 10 years cultivating what we are preparing to cut back on.

It's said, we will need to have 2.1 children in order to sustain our population without the need for immigrants, well according to one review panellists findings. It's early days yet, but I thought a few of you might be interested in this preliminary report, it has quite a few top references also.

I thought Labor had written it off as a non-core policy/promise, (a mere pre-electoral sweetener) this and had no intentions of producing a population policy. Well, I was wrong, given they wouldn't have gone to so much trouble and expense appointing 3 separate review boards, panels for what is likely to be the most controversial policy (other than the carbon-tax and ETS they bungled) both sides of politics will propose. It will be a key-election issue come next election or even sooner if Oakeshott slides across the floor with perhaps another, though this could be staged to try and get dirt on Tony.

Anyway, enough babbling, here is the "Population Strategy" ... NOTE THE DISCLAIMER!! NOT A PRODUCT OF LABOR, A PRODUCT OF THOSE THEY SELECTED TO HELP WITH THE SMOOTHEST POSSIBLE DELIVERY OF WHAT MAY APPEAR TO ILL-INFORMED/GREENS DELUDED SOME AS BEING THE HEIGHT OF PROTECTIONISM, DISCRIMINATION, RACISM- the foundations of what will assist with the implementation of Australia's Sustainable Population policy.

For our nations sake, both party's need to knuckle down and get this right, I would like to see Labor and Liberal working together on this one policy, I know, it's a big ask,

Well if the CSIRO boffins' claims 20 odd years ago that Australia can only sustainably support 12 million people are correct, that means when the mining bubble bursts, with our current population of 22,615,000 (1 March 2011) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographi ... Population we'll have over 10 million people to get rid of.
Lets say for argument's sake the govt achieves its intended population of 36-40 million within 40 years, and the resource boom pops at that time, we'll need our very own Pol Pot to thin the population. Which begs the question who gets to be in the death squads and who gets annihilated?
