Good idea! Abbott just wants to close the NBN down, why give him more ammo? It isn’t like NBN Co is part of the govt.

NBN is more than entertainment, but will be brilliant entertainment.

I'm beginning to wonder if our land mass is stable enough for it, although I think they're going to start installing it in Qld ASAP. Depending on whether this is successful or not - it might ascertain whether they should proceed with it in the other states.

The land mass is stable enough for copper so why wouldn’t it be stable enough for optical fibre?

WTF? Which, populated, landmass is more stable than Aus?

That was probably the wrong wording to use. I was thinking about all the trees, paths, buildings etc. which will have to be uprooted to lay it. We've got such a vast area to cover and so much of it is developed and mined. By disturbing the current infrastructure and private development - in the event of another flood or earthquake - perhaps there will be problems.

I can't see it being installed in every state.

You have a weird view of what Australia is, Mantra...

So... too much "stability" is the problem, you percieve? Meh.

A vast area, so little of it developed or mined.

As with every major and nationwide capital investment, there will be areas where fate intervenes.

I can. Australia is (ironically) one of the most urbanised countries in the world (and increasingly so), so getting fibre to the vast majority of the population is no problem, at all.

Providing equality of coverage, however, is another story.
