Taseer was killed in the capital, Islamabad, last Tuesday over his views in favour of the blasphemy law's amendment. That liberal stance offended the country's increasingly powerful conservative religious base.
Qari Ahsaan, from the banned group Jamaat ud Dawa, addressed the crowd from a stage, saying: "We can't compromise on the blasphemy law. It's a divine law and nobody can change it."
"Our belief in the sanctity of our prophet is firm and uncompromising and we cannot tolerate anyone who blasphemes. Whoever blasphemes will face the same fate as Salman Taseer."
Taseer didn't blaspheme, though, and it's damn sure he never got a fair trial before a single arseclown executed him.
It looks like Pakistan is ruled by the ignorant mob, with absolutely no respect for the laws... even the ones they pretend to to be standing by. They're willing to call a murderer a hero, simply because they dislike the perfectly legal words of his victim.
Fuck you, Qari Ahsaan... fuck you and your blind obsession with your demented god.

Well Islam and so therefore Muslims is/are socially retarded (yes I coined that phrase myself), but then religion in general typically is. As long as religion has public acceptance and so therefore social power, psychotics will continue their inhumanity to everything on the planet in the name of their chosen diety.

I would argue that it's not anything to do with religion at all but factional groups using a fundamentally flawed law (in that it can be abused in this way) to silence critics and opponents. Much the same as the Lese Majeste laws in Thailand prevent any disparaging remarks about the royal family even though some of them are corrupt.
In effect it is just a power grab.

There's something fundamental about the reaction though. Fear rules, when someone can assasinate a leader, and then be hailed as a hero.
Compare and contrast, the assasination attempt in America today.

But those fundamentally flawed laws themselves are based on Islamic dogmas, and so gives justification for power grabs by psychotics. Religion is the most evil and dangerous phenomena homo sapien sapien has ever created.
Religion causes mental illness and then preys upon those damaged minds. Zealots are unreasonable, so the only solution is the Darlek option, "exterminate exterminate"

Rubbish, power freaks seize on any weak point, loophole, flaw or ambiguity in any given system to further their designs and gain superiority over others.

Quite probably true but of course it was inevitable given our evolution. Perhaps one day an evolutionary step will cause the demise of the God gene.

Until the islamic world have their refirmation and overall to separate church and state very little will improve.
The laws of the state are based on the rules of islam. Very useful all those years ago and help propell islamic states ahead of europe during the dark ages. Once europe started to question the logic of the religous laws and we rebelled then things started to look a little better.
The change these states need to make is so fundamental that history has shown that this does not happen without significant bloodshed. While everyone is too afraid to challange the current system it will not change. A grass roots movement is required and that is not likely soon.
has any noticed that it is the islamic nations are not doing so well and have the most trouble as the world evolves (excluding some of the the oil rich states)
It is a real pity that they had to kill one of the moderates that was outspoken. To make him a hero shows how warped this idiology has become. Remember when we burned witches.... they need a couple of hundred years to change.
