Where does 'state religion' fit in?

It doesn't. You are 'pizzed,' and talking shit, as usual.
Nah mate... you are pissed... I never said that christianity was a state religion... I said the developed world was founded on christianity.

So why would/did the christo hierachy deliberately prevent intellectual advancement and forment scientific decay?

To hide/conceal knowledge under a shroud/veil of superstition.

Why would this pack of theological fraudsters feel a need to prevent the dissemination of genuine knowledge and demand acceptance/belief/aquiescence to their psychotic fairytale regime?

Because they were petrified those they demanded loyalty from might discover Christianity is a complete fabrication created by reproducing Buddhist precepts wrapped in Hindu Puranas (allegorical/metaphoric myths) and painted with a Hebrew/Jewish theme.

The Bibles are the greatest lies ever sold.

The reason is as older than psychology Outlaw... Fear of Change.

And what is the change they fear?

Exposure as fraudsters leading to the demise of their authoritarian dictator status.

This fear that discovery and knowledge is a potential catalyst for atrophy of authority, centuries later was the motive for incarceration of Marco Polo, and very much like the current US plutocracy's persecution of Julian Assange over Wikileaks.

And what is the change they fear?
The fear that the bible is open to many interpretations and not an absolute unchanging authority on everything. The fear of power lost.

Agreed.
And the very reason that once the roman church had exterminated the early Christians, they restricted access to their book of fairytales to themselves, just like Hindu Brahmins did.

I guess that believing is the imaginary god is something that provided an advantage to early humans. It provided answers the the unanswerable questions like:
- why does the sun come up
- why do the flowers follow the sun
- why did that volcanoe kill my entire family

actually - to our knowledge (and this should be challanged since we are just animals) we are the only animals that have reached the level of awareness to ask WHY?

The smart leaders learned that religion is a great way to control the masses. Those that did not comply probably got killed or formed their own groups. Following the leader and believing in a god become a survival trait in DNA/culture.

The myth continued and become the foundation of education initially for the elite and then the masses.

bla bla bla.

The big question is:
If we killed god off today, what would the stupid people believe in?

If we are using the Chambers' definition of mystic, then Bohm was seeking to stroke his ego and/or his fear. Religious people are all cowards and/or morons and/or egomaniacs. It seems we can eliminate the moron category in the case of Bohm, so that leaves the other two.
You yourself admitted Krishnamurti wasn't religious. Neither was Bohm.
I was relying on wiki which told me he wasn't religious.

You say he is a mystic, which according to the Chambers' dictionary, necessarily makes him religious.

What is your definition of the word mystic?
Believe that the definition has already been made clear in another post: a scientist searches for a grand unitary theory for everything while a mystic experiences the oneness with reality. In other words, a mystic experiences what the scientist strives to explain.
