Coles charges 3 times as much for beef as good butchers.

I don't have time right now to look for really hard data (I am looking at porn with a really hard penis) but I have seen several claims that Australia is now a net importer of food, and if not we are certainly headed that way.freediver wrote:Are you suggesting Australia does?it does not bode well for any future country to rely largely on imported food supply

GM is a proven failure. GM plants are so weak they won't grow without $#!+loads more fertiliser than is required for non GM plants, and require as much [sometimes more] pesticide spraying than non GM plants.J.W. .
For example US soybean growers buy conventional seed beans for $6 a kilo, or GM seed beans for $40 a kilo, and the GM variety is only 1/3rd to 2/3rds as productive.
The only crop that has shown a production gain is corn, and I suspect that's probably due to industry manufactured figures.
The GE-agri-industry's successes are limited to book cooking and advertising hype.

Not in my experience.

In my experience Coles is more expensive than Woolies and butchers in Sydney.freediver wrote:Not in my experience.
But in Bundaberg Coles is cheaper than everybody else for meat, and most other items as well.
If it wasn't so, I'd go elsewhere, because I'm as others have claimed, as tight as a fish's @)$#hole.

Cheap beef is much easier to find in a busy supermarket with a five year old and a Wiggles back pack.
No one wants to risk touching a five year old with a wiggle bag.

And remember, this is for a bunch of rich white people competing against dirt poor asians and Aficans. If we ever did run into trouble we could probably double our output just by putting a bit of effort into it.This year, the peak body will report that the industry -- which includes some personal care and medical products and excludes bulk grain and livestock -- will record a trade deficit for the first time since data was collected in 2003-04.

You know Freebie, since I stopped caring about politics I stopped reading my own evidence.
It is glorious, like freeballing it or being in Congress.
