I just watched Alien Ressurection (it's when the Aliens franchise started to go pear shaped... I mean, really... alien vs. predator, c'mon!), and there was Doc Cochrane, as the sick, exomorph lovin', scientist

I miss Ms. Z too, she was a character, you are right quite like Jane.

In some ways Doc Mattus was like Doc, a bit of a misanthrope who cares.

Cynic definitely had some Swearagen in him, especially in the creative cussing insult department.

My favorite Cynic insult was "Frogen you are so dumb when you speak parrots fall from trees."

I stole that one it is so good.

Resurrection is a watchable movie... but to be honest, I've never seen a "alien vs. predator" version (which came after). Mixing movie themes, meh. I'd be more interested in what happened to the Ripley character afterwards. Talk about an evolutionary leap

Doctoring brings out something in people... esp. if they see a lot of suffering without enough of the positive outcomes. Must be hard to be a war doctor/medic.

I'd nominate Machi as Alma. Aloof, yet extremely human in essence.

I have a friend who is a military nurse, I knew her in Bosnia and she was loving soul she latter went to Iraq and the few times we have talked since she has become very hard and cynical. I guess you have to as a doctor too, to deal with all that death.


Have you heard from Machi in awhile?

Last time I caught up with her she was living in Paris! Lucky woman. But it has been months since I have herd from her.

I really miss her insights and you are right there is a huge heart under that mysterious veneer.

Yeah GFC has some benefits, I reckon the post Christmas sale deals are going to be great, the retailers have been taking it on the chin.

Too bad I hate shopping so won't exploit the capricious grace of the market.
