Peter Garrett lead singer from midnight oil was always saying that the pollys should be doing this and that when he was in the band,,since becoming a polly he went very quiet as if someone gave him a good talking to,,have i missed anything is he going great guns or has he become a waste of space ?

He made the mistake of joining the do nothing party (labor) instead of following his true calling of joining the rhetorical do nothing party (greens). If he had done that, he would have had the continuing benefit of sniping from the sidelines without having to do anything.

You'd think so, but a black fella I knew in the Greens (quit before I did over Wild Rivers policy taken on by Qld govt) who came from FNQ and is on staff at Qld uni of technology said he'd never trusted PG and refered to him as "an opportunist".

What I remember is once obtaining a safe ALP seat, he did a back-flip on all the rhetoric he'd sang about.
Earning him condemnation as a sell-out.
Which is why I think "Short memory, must have a short memory" is so appropriate.
