We pay more than in the USA.
We pay 52.6 cents per litre = A$2 per US gallon.

comprising a federal tax of 18.40 cents and average state taxes of 32.61 cents.
Total taxes vary significantly by state,
with 2025 rates highest in California ($\approx$71 cents) and lowest in Alaska ($\approx$9 cents).

Trump was sold a pack of lies from Bibi -
oil tankers are sitting ducks in the Strait of Hormuz -
worse than that - they are floating bombs
that can be ignited with one match -
yet alone a drone or missile.
No one can stop the Iranians blowing them up.

Re: the fuel crisis
Google AI:
Australia is the only country in the world that controls an entire continent. As a sovereign nation, it covers the whole of the Australian continent, which includes mainland Australia, Tasmania, and smaller surrounding islands.
Key details regarding Australia and continental control:
Geographical uniqueness: It is the only country recognized as both a continent and a country.
Size: Australia is the sixth-largest country in the world.
Other contexts: Other large nations like Russia or Canada cover significant portions of their continents but not the entire landmass, whereas Australia spans the entire continent, which sits on its own tectonic plate.

Re: the fuel crisis
A “significant fire” is being tackled at one of Australia’s only two remaining oil refineries.
The blaze at Viva Energy’s Geelong refinery is “not under control,” Fire Rescue Victoria said overnight.
No injures have been reported but Victoria Police has told news.com.au that an investigation will begin into the cause.
The facility, located in Corio, just north of Geelong, supplies 10 per cent of Australia’s fuel and 50 per cent of the fuel used in Victoria.

We had 2 left and 1 is on fire? An unfortunate accident? I think not.

From another forum:
Q -
I wonder if they'll have to shutdown completely?
A -
No, they won’t. It was a fire in the Mogas unit,
which is an alkylation process that uses HF acid to
make a high octane blend component for petrol and Avgas.
Feed to this unit would be from the Cat Cracker,
which upgrades heavy crude into mainly cat naphtha,
some light cycle oil (essentially diesel) with a small stream of light olefins
which is what would be sent to the Mogas unit.
These 2 units would likely be the only ones shutdown.
Remaining units would mostly be on minimum rates.
The last thing in an emergency like this would you shut down the whole facility.
And while the fire looks impressive and horrendous,
it’s only a very small section of the overall plant.
