Two children have been found dead at separate crime scenes believed to be linked in Melbourne.

Victoria Police homicide detectives are on the scene at two addresses approximately 200m apart in Cobblebank, 33km from the CBD, where a 12-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were killed in a suspected youth gang attack on Saturday night.

The youngest victim had been stabbed to death and was found at a house on Marble Drive.

The teen victim sustained “horrific mutilation injuries” and was found dead at a nearby address on Cobble Street, The Herald Sun reports.

ABC host Patricia Karvelas has clashed with Matt Canavan in a heated on-air blow-up, slamming the Nationals Senator for linking migration with crime in Melbourne.

Mr Canavan appeared on Monday’s Afternoon Briefing, where Karvelas grilled him on the Coalition’s cratering poll numbers and recent comments by former Liberal Prime Minister Tony Abbott calling for an end to “mass immigration”.
ABC again
Andrew Leigh, Assistant Minister for Productivity, Competition, Charities and Treasury, said Mr Canavan’s comments showed why the Coalition had been eviscerated at the polls.

“There is a relationship between migration and crime — migrants, on average, do less crime than native born Australians,” Dr Leigh said.

“What we’re seeing throughout Australia is strong support for multiculturalism. Nine out of 10 Australians believe multiculturalism is a success story.

What planet does this Andrew Leigh live on? He's delusional or, worse, just a blatant liar.

Disturbing incidents he claims to have witnessed include staff having sexual relationships with young people, teens using standover tactics to control units, a staff member having their throat slashed and an attack so violent it left a worker with permanent brain damage.

One, he remembers vividly.

“A staff member was on shift at Parkville when he was assaulted by more than a dozen South Sudanese young people. He was punched, kicked, and his head stomped on. His injuries were horrific and he suffered permanent brain damage.

“This staff member has been unable to return to his role and will most likely never work again, his life effectively ruined thanks to the typical unsafe work environment.

“What’s truly appalling is that nobody is ever directly held responsible for incidents like this.”

He was assaulted by teens in 2013 and is one of a growing contingent of former workers receiving taxpayer-funded payments courtesy of successful WorkCover claims.

It's like summer camp for these ferals. They have breakfast then play games on a PlayStation, play basketball on the court or go swimming in one of the two pools. Indoor and outdoor.

Where are the consequences?

‘Abhorrent’: What really goes on inside Melbourne youth prisons.

Those who are locked up, it turns out, are treating their time in youth detention as a “summer camp” where they play video games, swim in an outdoor pool and make friends with other recidivist offenders.

Former youth justice workers who spoke to news.com.au say the “environment can be terrifying” at either of the two main facilities in Parkville and Cherry Creek.

“Someone will die, it’s only a matter of time,” a former youth worker who spoke on condition of anonymity said.

But the most infuriating comments came from a whistleblower who spoke to 3AW host Jacqui Felgate this week.

She revealed shocking details about how young offenders treat their time inside.

“I would best describe (the role) as being a glorified babysitter to a bunch of kids who couldn’t give a shit about anyone except themselves,” she said.

“Basically they get locked in their rooms at night, we would take them food at any time they wanted.

“Most of the time — I can’t speak for every unit — the boys would get up, have their breakfast, play PlayStation, go and use the basketball court, go to the swimming pools — indoor and outdoor pools.

“There’s two pools there and a gym. The best way to describe it is like a summer camp.”

She said those inside are not forced to take part in rehabilitation or counselling — “it’s a choice of the youths about whether they attend those”.

Chilling footage has emerged from Melbourne’s suburbs showing a young man brandishing not one but two machetes, days after two young boys were murdered with the same weapons.

The vision, filmed in Sunshine in Melbourne’s west, shows the youth threatening to “chop” another man as he is confronted.

“You’re gonna get chopped. Who the f*** are you’se? Get the f*** out of my face,” he says.

“You don’t want trouble.”

Anecdotally, Victoria is the home of violent crime — more so than any other state and territory. Now we have the data to back it up.

Almost every single night across Melbourne and regional Victoria, thugs armed with machetes, crowbars, knives, guns and screwdrivers carry out terrifying aggravated home invasions.

Just this week there were violent attacks on residents in Craigieburn and Moorabin, as well as on the Mornington Peninsula at Rosebud.

Victoria Police homicide detectives are on the scene at two addresses approximately 200m apart in Cobblebank, 33km from the CBD, where a 12-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were killed in a suspected youth gang attack on Saturday night.

The youngest victim had been stabbed to death.

Last week, former Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse was stabbed in the chest with a screwdriver on Thursday morning as he fought off three armed youths inside his home.

Also on Thursday, a 16-year-old boy was in court over one of the most shocking alleged attacks of the year — the aggravated assault of a 60-year-old man inside his Gladstone Park home that saw him stabbed, shot and bashed with a hammer.

In Kew East last month, a 39-year-old man was allegedly stabbed 11 times in the face, neck and arms while trying to protect his family from intruders.

If it sounds like an out-of-control situation, it’s because it is. And now there’s data to back it up.
