An Instagram account belonging to alleged Porepunkah gunman Dezi Freeman once commented that the "only good cop is a dead cop".

As Victorian police continue to search for Mr Freeman, an analysis of his social media activity starting from 2019 paints a picture of an individual with an intense aversion to state authority who also called for the "extermination" of politicians.

ABC NEWS Verify has reviewed comments made by the so-called sovereign citizen on social media and in podcast interviews.

The trail he left online sheds some light on his long-running adherence to pseudo-law beliefs, foreshadowing his intense resistance to police authority.

'Only good cop is a dead cop'
The Instagram account does not carry Mr Freeman's name, but ABC NEWS Verify has established it as belonging to him.

The account commented on another account's post on December 1, 2023, with an all-caps tirade that labelled police "the new Gestapo" and said they should be "preferably incinerated".

"COPS ARE THE ENEMIES OF HUMANITY. ESPECIALLY HERE IN AUSFALIURE [sic] WHERE THEY HAVE DECLARED WAR ON AUSSIES. COPS ARE THE NEW GESTAPO. THEIR LIVES ARE DEDICATED TO INFLICTING THEIR HATE AND SUPERIORITY COMPLEXES ON OTHERS AND CAUSING AS MUCH HARM, MISERY AND DESTRUCTION AS POSSIBLE. THE ONLY GOOD COP IS A DEAD COP. PREFERABLY INCINERATED 🔥," the comment read. ( ABC news this mornings worth)

This psycho has managed to harbour such hateful views and engage in antisocial behaviours for how long before finally he decided to follow through with his hate and unleash on innocents?

He fancifully considers himself as a Ned Kelly, but Ned wasn't a coward and murdered innocents in cold blood, he murdered bad cops.

The police he killed had devoted their lives to protecting children, and this mongrel had a warrant out for his arrest because he had been abusing children.

This isn't a "hero" it's a coward who like the coward he is, is now running in high country from police.

How was someone like this able to remain heavily armed, gun licences, have such hateful public views on instagram and not be dealt with before this tragedy?

How many more loons like him are out there waiting to go off their rockers?

This nightmare could have been prevented had our government taken the similar QLD incident involving 3 members of the same family who massacred police and their neighbour seriously.
The recommendations for government, were they fosterd?

Antisocial behaviours and those with mental illness continue to go unmonitored, unchecked in this country.
We need to keep a database of our loons and keep close tabs on them. Similarly, the Westfield's Bondi stabber who's own parents had pleaded with authorities concerning the safety and well-being of their schizophrenic son who were worried he'd do something like this as he had gone off his medication.

Police and society at large are being placed at unnecessary risk because our government doesn't want to keep surveillance on our nation's crazies. I think it's time we found a better way.

Desi Freeman had such a hatred for authority, police simply trying to do their jobs, protecting children, that he decided to implement a plan, a protocol that I believe he'd been planning for quite some time. He hasn't escaped into the forest due to luck, he's likely been planning this hateful masacre for quite some time, and I don't believe he's done yet. He likely has vantage points, burrows and caves where he's left supplies ,food, ammunition, medical supplies etc because in his twisted hateful and depraved mind, he's at war with police, and he's been looking forward to this moment for quite some time. He's an attention whore, has fashioned himself an online identity, and I am concerned that our police are walking into his trap.

He could be anywhere by now, he's had this planned for likely years, his " Ned Kelly Get Away" he fancies himself as a survivalist, a sovereign citizen, and has a deeply troubling hate for our citizens protectors, our police whose families are grieving now because this lunatic wasn't stopped in time.

Dezi Freeman or Filby?

Remember this?

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-n ... rds-ntwnfb

How didn't we learn from this for heavens sake?

Victoria, always a dollar short and a day late.

So, in essence, Victoria has a heavily armed authority loathing cop murderer and paedophile on the loose.

We couldn't find Samantha Murphy due to a lack of police resources and technology ( aka sniffer dogs) what chance have we got finding someone who's heavily armed , on the run, and actually doesn't want to be found?

He could be in Ballarat living in an old gold mine he's previosly padded out with his 9 year old girlfriend by now.... or staying with another psycho who shares his antisocial and creepy pedo views.

Hoplesss!

I asked ChatGPT: will Dezi Freeman get captured?
Here’s what experts and authorities are saying about whether Dezi Freeman might get away:

A drone and search expert, Michael Coates, warned that if Freeman is hiding in a cave or goldmine with supplies, he "could stay there for weeks"—although shelters aside, exposure to the cold and wet weather severely reduces his odds
The Guardian
.

Criminologist Vincent Hurley highlighted that as hard as Freeman may be to catch—particularly if he's prepared and in a sheltered spot—the extreme alpine weather could wear him down faster than it does the rotating police teams. “Once they find him… he won't be [rotated through shifts], so the conditions will wear him down,” he explained
News.com.au
From law enforcement and operations perspective:

The Special Operations Group (SOG) has ramped up efforts in extremely challenging conditions. They're deploying drones, helicopters (with heat‑seeking tech), tracking dogs, and forming grid search teams—with support from NSW specialist units
Herald Sun

Authorities have also set up a no‑fly zone, roadblocks, and lockdowns across the Alpine region near Porepunkah, aiming to contain the area and limit his escape routes

Summary: Will he get away?

Factor ...............Likelihood of Evading Capture

Terrain familiarity & shelter ...............High – caves and goldmine hideouts
Weather exposure ...............Low – cold/wet conditions weaken him
Law enforcement resources ...............High – robust, multi-pronged operation
Time ...............Decreases odds – sustained search effort

The alleged offences relate to a minor under 16 and is why police were executing a search warrant at his Porepunkah property on Tuesday.

It is understood the alleged offending happened in the past two years.

But his best friend will tell you he's a "wonderful bloke " and a " Wonderful father."

Oh, and a " devout Christian too "

I smell bullshit, this is a guy who has sexually abused a child under 16 and has a notable history of being anti- establishment.

The bible tells us to abide by the laws of the land, and that God is constantly working through our government, regardless of whether they're left/right. A devout Christian wouldn't behave the way " Desmond Christopher Filby " Dezi Freeman " has historically or presently.

He's a cooked nutter who has no respect for our laws, I think he's reacted the way he has because he knew they'd find something nasty after searching his compound, so opted to go on the run.

His wife Mali told her neighbours recently that she had concerns for her husbands recent behavioural issues.
I'm guessing that he had a number of dregs living at his property, a converted bus on 10 hectares in a beautiful part of Victoria and that he had ambitions to start some kind of pseudo- religious cult.

The grub will be up in those mountains caves or gold tunnels, they may need to smoke him out. .... one by one, painstaking task ahead of them hu

Another mentally unstable cooked loon who serves to do nothing other than validate the need for laws, protections for law-abiding Australian citizens.

How on earth was he able to keep his gun licence at a 2018 court hearing?

Just crazy!

Unfortunately, it's looking like he may, get away. But how long can he survive living in isolation, without his family, without his phone/ computer ?????
Without the comforts of civilised living??

A survivalist perhaps, but mentally he isn't strong.

He'll either shoot himself, surrender or one of his "sovereign citizen" pals will notify police as to his whereabouts if he attempts to call upon a mate.

Hard to say what he'll do, but after the police present his wife with evidence of his activities with a minor, she's unlikely to want him back.

Sounds like their relationship was crumbling already, given her chit-chat with her neighbours recently, and before this tragedy.

It depends on how long he's had this planned.
He could easily survive Australia's alpine region's, especially with spring coming on and his experience.

For all we know, he could have had this planned.

This only serves to reinforce the need for a more authoritatarian governance.

Alternatively, he could have already shot himself dead in a gold mine or cave and so all the special ops, search dogs etc are a huge waste of money and resources that could be better utilised elsewhere, like on immigrants entering Australia illegally, terrorism planning, national security etc.

There was a similar case in NSW 20 odd years ago, Malcolm Naden who spent seven years on the run in the New South Wales back country.

And given his connections, he could be anywhere.......

I remember Nadin, he was half cast from Dabbo and while on the run hiding not far from here. He was caught because instead of living of the bush opted for hunters cabins and stealing from homesteads.
Actually hideouts around here are full of fugitives history from early colonial days like Frederick Ward (Captain Thunderbolt) and Jimmy Governor (Blacksmith) who was shot and captured about 20km from where I am now.

But back to Filby.

Significant snow forecast as hunt for alleged Porepunkah gunman continues.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) said the snowfall for area was expected to be significant.

BOM senior meteorologist Angus Hines said there was "plenty of snow on the way".

"One of the most widespread and significant amounts of snow that we've seen through the season so far is forecast to move in tomorrow [Friday]," he said.

"And it's going to come in with a whole other array of really wintry weather as well.
