Some foods not only taste delicious, but have incredible stories to tell. One is the dumpling, a bite-sized treat that comes in many shapes and sizes all over the world.
I love recipes with stories, for me it's not just about the food itself, it's the history.
This mature and amazing lady has my utmost respect πŸ™...she has sadly passed 😒 however her grandson captured her in her happy place before she joined God.

Depression cookery, anyone who can create something nice from practically nothing is truly a thumping good cook.
Anyone can gather a bunch of gourmet ingredients and follow a recipe on YouTube or recipe book, but those wartime mothers, and fathers in some cases really knew how to cook.
Save this link because we may all need it at some point if things keep deteriorating overseas the way they are.

In any case, I get a kick out of these sorts of meals, there's something inherently challenging & satisfying about making a decent meal out of practically nothing.
Most people just don't have the skills these days because everything is available via an app.
When I was volunteering for local council health care service, we had to create a cookbook from scratch that would be distributed to families doing it tough.

It became such a hit during covid too.

It had to be nutritionally balanced, frugal and simple because the book was intended for a disadvantaged or disabled demographic.
Some of the recipes were a bit fatty or lacking to my way of thinking, but ok if only enjoyed occasionally I guess.

Anyway, check out Clara, tell me what's not to love about this woman, she reminds me of my own Nanna, who knew what it meant to stretch a pint of milk between 5 people per day. 3 kids, 2 adults post war when there were shortages of even the basics we all take for granted.

The rate Australia is going we all may very well know exactly what Clara endured.

Perhaps then will we all become less self absorbed superficial and entitled.

Hard times has a way of bringing communities together, and softening even the coldest of hearts.

The reason why so many people lack empathy and are so entitled is because they have never understood the value of community or had to consider anyone else.

We still have it in small communities. During bush fire and flood first most important help comes from neighbors not from government.

So true Tld.

This is why community is so important, and why certain Leftard groups seem hell-bent on dividing us.

Because they know that community is communists mortal enemy.
