Bellbirds sound awesome.

I was typing this and listening to the cicadas outside and all of a sudden. Nothing! They just stopped. Weird.

Many insects, birds and animals disappeared from here after big bush fires few years ago but now they started to come back. Second Christmas beetle flew in last night.

That’s nice to hear. I know what you mean though.
Back in 2009 with the devastation of black Saterday fires especially in Kinglake area :-( so many houses destroyed, livestock, pets, wildlife, people, including our newsreader we had (Brian Naylor… some may remember him?)
Fast forward….6 months later… I couldn’t bear to go there, but had to drive through to go Yea/Seymour etc
I said to hubby as we slowly drove past all the charred trees, bush land, “the silence … no sound of life” it was most eerie, sad but eerie.
As we kept driving as hubby knew a lot of people he would point out a few burnt down places …”that was so n so’s house” and then he just goes all sad.

Re: Topic of needles earlier…. I can cope with needles in arms, etc but today I went to dentist, and I’m not very good coping with needles in my gums! Not at all! I try to be brave… my body clenches and I’m gripping the arm rests and my foot goes up and down …. Geezuz and yes the dentist uses the numbing gel… I think I prefer to be knocked out instead
How does everyone else cope?

NZ Bellbirds sound different. I got Bellbirds all around plus many other bird noises. Bellbirds are nice, but some places around here they can be as numerous and loud as cicadas. A bit too much.

Don't you like it when the Dentist has your mouth numb and full of stuff and then they start a conversation with you?😵

Same here after the 2019/2020 bushfires and most of the birds have not returned. Some have but not too many. There used to be huge flocks of Cockatoos every morning and night and now we only see a few every now and then and not regularly.

Flocks will rebuild when the rest of food chain and habitat come back.

Agree. Tens of thousands of years of controlled fires by aborigines is nothing compared to the devastation of these massive wildfires.
