Political Correctness Gone Too Far!

Post by Black Orchid » Sat Oct 19, 2024 3:30 pm

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has revealed he employs “teams of cultural appropriation specialists” after acknowledging some of his popular recipes of the past are no longer acceptable.

Oliver told the The Times newspaper in an interview published this week that his immediate reaction to claims of cultural appropriation was to be defensive and say, “for the love of God, really?”.

But then his thoughts turned to: “Well, we don’t want to offend anyone.”

~

Oliver told The Times that his 2011 creation, “empire roast chicken” – an Indian-inspired recipe made up of chicken, coriander, turmeric, garam masala and cumin – would not be appropriate today.

The “empire roast chicken” featured in an episode of Oliver’s Channel 4 TV series in which he set out to celebrate what he called “our Indian love affair” by making a “full-on collision between beautiful British roast dinners and gutsy Asian spices”.

Since 2011, cultural appropriation in the kitchen has become a contentious topic, with another British chef, Gordon Ramsay, being heavily criticized for opening an “authentic Asian” restaurant in 2019 with no Asian chefs.

Everyone's a 'princess' nowadays it seems. I find it ridiculous. What about Asians that have bought out all of the Aussie cake shops and nothing resembles the pies, sausage rolls and cakes of our past? Should they be hounded, criticised and abused?

Oh FFS! Charles and Camilla will no longer be doing walkabouts. This will now be "opportunities to meet the public."

Since when did everyone (insert "Abos") get so bloody sensitive?

I agree. I just heard on the news that it can't be called a walkabout anymore.

I also saw the Teals took Pittwater, Those Teals are a worry on the northern beaches.

UK Court Delivers First Ever ‘Thought Crime’ Conviction in British History

A UK court this week has issued the first ever ‘thought crime’ conviction in British criminal history after finding an army veteran guilty of ‘illegally’ praying to God in his own mind.

Adam Smith-Connor, who served in Afghanistan,
was arrested for breaching a ban on protests within a buffer zone around a clinic in Bournemouth, Dorset, in November 2022. His crime was standing in silent prayer outside the clinic for his unborn son Jacob, whom he now regrets aborting more than two decades ago.

Infowars.com reports: Reporting on the case, the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) legal advocacy group said the conviction was “the first known conviction of a ‘thoughtcrime’ in modern British history.”

It added that Smith-Connor must now pay £9,000 (€10,770)
in legal costs to the prosecution,
just for praying in his head for three minutes.

The group is examining the possibility of appealing the conviction.

During the trial at Poole Magistrates’ Court, Smith-Connor denied the offence of failing to comply with the Public Space Protection Order, but District Judge Orla Austin said that what he did was “deliberate.”

The news comes as Keir Starmer’s Labour government is considering rolling out a ban on silent prayer outside abortion clinics.

Ahead of the ruling, Lois McLatchie Miller, who is communications officer at ADF UK, described the case as “era-defining,” adding:

Either you can be tried and convicted for the beliefs you hold in your head, or you can’t.

It turns out that you can.

The 'progressive'' left are destroying what used to be a rational world.

Abos seem to be perpetually aggrieved and offended at anything and everything these days and the lefturds continually pander to them. I always thought "walkabout" was such a nice term. But only the Abos could find something to whinge about ... like misappropriation of their language. :roll

As for the Teals!! We're done. They are just another version of the Greens and so woke it's a real worry. I seem to have nothing in common with Zali Steggall. She's more concerned with the environment than anything else. Yet one of her constituents had to publicly embarrass her because she was hypocritically driving around in a huge 4WD gas guzzler whilst lecturing to us about the environment and the impact we were making! She then had to get an electric vehicle. And as a vocal proponent of renewable energy, she didn't have solar panels or was only just getting around to having solar panels installed. You would think she would have had the electric car and the solar panels prior to making such a fuss about our environmental footprints!

But at least we still have James Griffin here in Manly. However the Libs are getting very thin on the ground. Maybe they should be doing better background checks on their candidates! My first vote always goes to the Sustainable Australia Party these days and second preference the Libs but they're definitely not doing themselves any favours these days.
