It is good that gymnasts retire early. Veteran gymnasts take a toll on their bodies. I am glad Australia do not have many high ranking gymnasts, at least beyond the age of 25.

Even Commercial Divers have just a 10 year window (diving) before it takes its toll on their mind, body and spirits.

Tell that to Melissa Wu.

Commercial Diver as in Commercial Work as in Deep Sea Diving, Saturation Diving, Diving Bell Diving doing work on Oil Rigs and other constructions, facilities, pipes, power lines and more. Very hard intense and dangerous work. Very dangerous work and very very highly paid because of it.
If 'Commercial Divers' work 'too much, too long' - they have many side-effects like their bones weaken to be like 'pumice', they suffer HPNS, the bends and more. These guys are tough. They even burn down Biker Clubhouses for graduation parties after their courses. It is very very physically demanding as well as mentally and psychologically.
Hence why they 'mostly' keep to a 10 year window before moving onto Support Crews, Tutoring and other related roles that don't involve Diving itself anymore.

...as for Melissa Wu? I don't know why you were thinking about her for?

Melissa Wu was a trained gymnast before she took up diving.

Wu appeared on SAS Australia as a contestant. She got very far for someone who was only 30 years old, and 50kg at the time of filming.
