Pickled pork
1 can Guinness (440ml)
1 cup soda water (250ml approx)
1 tbs brown sugar.
Instructions
Add all ingredients to slow cooker
Cook 8 hours on low
Optional
Use 1 cup pan juices combined with 3T gravox/gravy powder, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup milk and pepper to make gravy.
The above recipe is amazing, (even better than my grandmothers) which I found a few years back on a WordPress and I guess you could use any beer, but I think it's the richness of the Guinness that subtly malts it and adds that richness and cuts through the briny salt which is such a great umami/ sweet/ salty balance you want.
I INSIST ON A FEW CLOVES IN MY CORNED BEEF HOWEVER STILL, but for pickled pork, the above recipe is the bomb, serve with mashed/roast/ or a steamed potatoe and green vegs. That's it.
Virtually cooks itself in slow cooker all day, just slice add veg, and choose your sauce/gravy.
I get a huge kick out of turning cheap cuts of meat into something amazing.
Anyone can make this, my 11 year old made it independently a few weeks ago.
And she still struggles with her yoyo
Note- Depending on your slow cooker, I have two sizes, but if you have only a large one you may need to babysit it for the day, ( at least the first time you make it) and top up with a little more soda water to prevent it drying out.
I use my medium size slow cooker to prevent evaporation.
However if you have a large family, you may need the "monster size" if so, just add soda water as needed guys.
Honestly, noone can stuff this recipe. Not even kids
If you want to impress family and or friends or just yourself even, and create an incredible homely smell throughout your home all day and evening, make neighbours jelous etc, and create the illusion that you slaved over a stunningly simple meal all afternoon, yet do very very little, this is the perfect choice.
Definitely a perfect Guy dish.
It's like magic, put piece of pickled pork in slow cooker, add your 3 ingredients and kick back and let it do it's thing all day while you watch the sport .

Personally, I am fed up with TV "cooks" not actual "chefs" trying to encourage viewers to purchase as many ingredients possible to please their TV shows sponsors "Colesworths" when you can create amazing meals affordably, easily and even better yourself.
Ie Adam Lou and Poe. Seriously now, you might as well pay a chef to cook it for you in a restaurant by the time you read through the ridiculous long list of ingredients that do nothing other than complicate the flavour profile and hurt your wallet.
Just keep it simple!!

I absolutely love Dijon mustard too, especially with corned beef or pickled pork, and simply boiled cabbage is a must, and some crispy stove-top scalloped or roasted potatoes ( I roast mine in a little lite Olive oil) or proper mashed potato.
I love mustard pickles too Three 333s brand only, and fresh beans, boiled, or frozen whole baby beans and peas are good enough too.
I make a creamy Dijon mustard sauce for corned beef, it's easy as Bobby.
Let me know if you would be interested in my easy peasy never fail quick mustard sauce, made from broth the corned meat cooks in.
Corned beef is great value.
I buy 1, and then divide it into 3, and my daughter and I get 3 meals from it ( I freeze the remaining two portions and defrost then cook as though from freshly bought) and it always freezes well. So long as you freeze it raw. Plenty leftover for corned beef and pickles sandwiches the next day.
I might even post a photo after I make my dinner.

A simple meal tonight:
Pork steak fried in light olive oil, with Dijon mustard and
Camembert cheese,
boiled potatoes with white pepper,
broccoli steamed for 2 minutes.
It was very nice indeed.

I just had two packets of sliced mushrooms.
Zapped for about 4 minutes with some butter, well... margarine.
Just some pepper and salt and that was it. Nothing but mushies.
Felt a bit of a toad stool coming on later though.

Very nice Bobby, you have given me an amazing idea, .... stuffed pork filled with Camembert cheese, with a .... omg, I won't get too carried away, will try not to anyway.
