Author Douglas has hit out at Australian independent senator Jacqui Lambie after her comments about how Elon Musk should be thrown in jail.

“I think he’s a social media nob with no social conscience, he has absolutely no social conscience – someone like that should be in jail and the key be thrown away,” Ms Lambie said earlier this week on Sky News Australia.

“That bloke should not have a right to be out there on his own ideology platform.”

Mr Murray said this was a "very good example" of why X and other free speech platforms are necessary.

“Was that just rhetorical flourish? I don’t think so actually," he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“I think people like her think genuinely that they should have the power to not just police but arrest the public square.”
