Israel has conducted strikes on a target in Iran, defying President Joe Biden's warnings over plunging the Middle East further into conflict.

An official told ABC News that strikes hit a site in Iran, however it is unclear what exact target was hit or the extent of the damage.

Officials say the city of Isfahan in central Iran was struck at 5am local time. The city hosts one of Iran's nuclear facilities, although US military sources reportedly said the target was not believed to be nuclear.

Iranian news outlet FARS reported that the strikes were located 'near Isfahan Airport and the eighth hunting base of the Army Air Force.'

Iranian state news reported the nation's air defense systems have been activated, and were firing at an unknown object in Tabriz, around 500 miles north of Isfahan.

It comes in response to Iran launching a barrage of hundreds of drones and rockets at Israel on Saturday, which was largely thwarted by Israel and its international allies. Isfahan was one of several launch sites used in the attack.

Biden had warned Israel not to retaliate to Saturday's strikes and urged them to 'take the win' of the foiled Iranian attack.

Within Iran, news reports on Friday's incident made no mention of Israel, and state television carried analysts and pundits who appeared dismissive about the scale.
An analyst told state TV that mini drones flown by "infiltrators from inside Iran" had been shot down by air defences in Isfahan.
Shortly after midnight, "three drones were observed in the sky over Isfahan. The air defense system became active and destroyed these drones in the sky," Iranian state TV said.
Senior army commander Siavosh Mihandoust was quoted by state TV as saying air defense systems had targeted a "suspicious object".
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi had warned Israel before Friday's strike that Tehran would deliver a "severe response" to any attack on its territory.

Iran has no plan for immediate retaliation against Israel, a senior Iranian official said Friday, as officials in Jerusalem indicated that an alleged drone attack on a city south of Tehran was meant to send a signal rather than cause damage.

The official also cast doubt on whether Israel was behind the attack in Isfahan, despite comments from some Israeli politicians practically accepting responsibility.

Together with a subdued response from official Iranian media organs, the senior official’s comments indicated that Tehran may be uninterested in risking war to make good on threats that it would attack Israel should it retaliate for a weekend missile and drone attack, and was seeking a way to avoid being held to the bellicose promises.

“The foreign source of the incident has not been confirmed,” the Iranian official said on condition of anonymity. “We have not received any external attack, and the discussion leans more toward infiltration than attack.”

They added that Iran has no plan to strike back immediately over the attack.

Was Iran's Strike Actually A Success?

Israel has just proven to the world that Iran has backed a step. Iran now sees a legitimate reason to fear Israel who has, as Iran says "Made a Signal" of their intentions to Iran. Well by taken it seriously more than just making a signal to Iran. It basically has said that Israel has for a long time now - made it pretty obvious that it wishes to go to war with Iran right from the start of HAMAS massacres, executions and slaughterings of Jewish civilians, like cowards and murderers who sought not out the IDF directly for engagement which would have been braver and the right thing to do. Iran being beyond HAMAS's crime and savagery, like an extension of itself.
This War does not end in Gaza or the West Bank.
Israel is feeding off the Islamic past and 'growing' as the prime Military power in the Middle-East.

In my view - if you look at the map of the Levant outwards: you will see the nation of Israel as a Dagger from behind, into the Prayer Rug of Islam.
