Apple butter

Post by Jovial Monk » Tue Jul 11, 2023 4:42 pm

Something I learned from my Yank HB buddies. Deelish, healthy.

First recipe I tried from the net—an orange and sugar etc, nah.

For apple butter you need apples, litre or so water or apple juice.

No other ingredients! Pretty sure the recipe is here and Ozol.

How to use the apple butter?

—spread it on bread for a nice sandwich

—spread it on one layer of a layer cake

—fry a pork chop in apple butter. No fat, fantastic flavor!

—make applebutter melomel.

Not for the faint hearted that last! Look after your yeast and could get a 19%abv mead! Delicious but a red wine glass will do you for the night. Delicious mulled!

My cooking skills extends to vegemite on toast and cheese on toast.

If I am left alone the take away bill will grow. :)

It is pathetic but i have not cooked seriously for about 30 years beyond the BBQ.
I used to cook when single, even exotic food. I can cook a basic meat and 3 veg but I just haven;t done it.
When I am alone I will either have a sandwich, toast or get fast food.

It is pathetic I agree but it is where I am at today.

I liked cooking but never get the time and the misses hasn't worked for a long time. Plus she hate when I cook. I sorted that when we dated with some of my dishes I loved and she hated.

It ended when I made an omelet and didn't have fresh mushrooms so I used the canned one with the sauce, it came out as a black omelet, I had done this for years and it tasted great. Suited me at the time to not cook again.

Black mushroom omelet, floating in it's own can juice swill?
This screams grounds for divorce, you're lucky she stayed with you. 🤣
