Some examples are following below in this article and are not comprehensive in any way but indicative only.
Health - insufficient funds for the purpose that the Australian Public seeks? Community, Residential and Hospitals are all short of funds yet no change has been made over 30 years of Governments - toxic workplaces are a result as resources (human and material) shortages exist for the jobs to be done effectively and without 'systemic' blocks! How will the demarcation (State and Federal) responsibilities be resolved?
NDIS - No insurance scheme but a fancy title? Why not an NDIS levy like the Medicare Levy? The demand for services is huge and growing.
Education - where are the funds for standards to be improved in all sectors from preschool to University level?
Tertiary degrees: What happened to standards of education? Why are universities 'dumming down' the academic standards to fill seats (bums in seats = money paid to them). Less about 'quality' education and more about 'milking the system for money'. Students are not being educated to the standards needed? Some courses will take students on pass rates that ultimately are not producing the quality sought?
TAFE: Systemic issues around educators with the required/necessar skills to do quality teaching? Why is a hairdresser teaching nursing? Multiple examples exist of the wrong skills/education teaching a subject. Selection is not based on 'standards' of knowledge / skills but on what criteria - industrial relations or something else?
Apprenticeships: Where is the quality education /training for this? Is the shift to online and not classroom experiences the very best way for retaining of apprentices? Is industry being responsible or is the quality of education and training an issue in this sector?
The securing of sufficient funds for these projects has failed State and Federal Governments for decades - COAG (Council of Australian Governments) failed and is now disbanded in favour of National Cabinet (Federal and State Leaders 'group fest'?) States (any party) and Federal (any party) have failed to come to some agreement as to how to fund the needs of States and Federal responsibilities. No love lost in that 'perceptual' political chasm?
Election after election, the Elephant in the room is ignored. There is no consensus and all Governments of all political persuasions have failed to develop pollicies to address the funding shortfall.
Victoria- sponsorship/ loan forgiveness or debt relief for a systemic failure for nursing graduates. The problem is the post graduate paid work experience and the lack of paid clinical work placements for graduates. The system is flawed and the States and Federals have avoided the issue of nurses getting paid clinical experience. One solution would be that an extra year of paid clinical practice would provide resources for the health care facilities to actually employ graduates instead of a huge number (statistics are available) of those who do not get paid clinical experience within 12 months of graduating!!
Police force recruitment - where are the University graduates being employed with specific skills for a range of responsibilities of the police forces?
What Information system is being developed for a national system of notifications so that boundaries for criminals are not 'blocks' for police investigations? Is there a national policy that has been adopted or is it a system by system co-operation patch work quilt?
If anyone has knowledge of the revenue versus expense side of things for Governments as well as system issues, this is the ideal opportunity to enlighten members.
