Religions just encourage celebrating it.

On a different tangent... Is the Islamic faith a religion or is it a political party?

"Future of democracy - It does not belong to the most brave, moral, hard working, or intelligent. It simply goes to those who shit out the most kids."

ie. Religious baby making machines.

Any meme that encourages people to breed like bunnies, and pass on the meme to the next generation, will win over reason and moderation, in the end.

It's a religion that exerts political pressure.

Is it a political force that applies religious pressure?

I don't think so. Basically, what defines them is their belief in Allah and Mohammad and all that stuff. There's just too much political variability throughout Islam. Of course, Islam can be invoked as a political tool, but no more so than some other major religions.

Oh come on! "I don't think so"? That's a cop out

You don't think the warring Shiites, Sunnies and whatever else is left over sects aren't political parties in Muslim nations?

Well, that's what makes it hard to give a definitive answer. But it's clear that Islam, as a whole, isn't a united political force, because Sunnies and Shiites are so often politically opposed to each other.

Like democracy isn't a political force because we have left and right factions?

You asked if Islam is a "political party"... no, no it's not. And nether is democracy.

Are such ideologies "political forces"... yes.

Ideologies (religions) that exert political pressure.
