Ideas for next election

Post by Redneck » Mon Dec 20, 2021 9:59 am

I have been thinking that perhaps next election members of OzPol that are regular contributors could be allowed to vote in the election provided they are not sockpuppets/aliases. After all both forums are owned by freeediver.

Perhaps freedivers Gmods might be able to confirm their legitimacy if they seemed suspicious

An advantage is it would help increase membership.

What are your thoughts?

Good morning Admin Red

My thoughts ?

Not if they're fake shared multi ids.

You're merely transporting trolls into this forum.

That's the last thing this poor forum needs.

It's been a battle just to get to this point Red.

We need to think SAFE in order to be STRONG.

Do you mean allowing random OzPol members to just join here and vote, without being vested in PA, when an election is running?

Hi Red,
no matter what you do you will still be left as I was with difficult decisions to make.
It would be nice if only long term, active members could vote but in principle
there are always a few exceptions.
One time IQ was still given a vote even though he had hardly posted for years.
He had been such a prolific, well known member before that -
so it was hard to reject his vote.

AiA was also given a vote after not being seen for 3 years.

Yes - you're right.
I forgot about him.
There are no easy solutions that I can think of.
At least we had 14 valid votes counted for the latest election -
a much better turn out that when I ran.

That makes the magic number 7.

Yes that was what I was thinking, knowing there would be issue with socks/aliases which would have to be closely watched.

Also knowing there are good posters over there like Heartless Felon that may come over and vote and stay on as contributing new members.

Before the obvious whinger whinges at me  , I didnt think this would be appropriate to introduce during the recent election as it may require other precautions like a list of socks/aliases as a guide.

Anyway food for thought!

Heartless Felon is a shared multi originally started by Monk.

Back to your original question though the answer should be decided on a case by case basis.

It's safer that way.

On the matter of trolls, the mods are required to moderate them.
On the matter of elections... all we are deciding on, is FDs overseer of his lesser forum.
Given that they are both FDs forums, I see no reason to not to have people from there, here and voting.

To avoid socks, people from Ozpol should request to vote through FD at FDs forum. The FD would pass on that request to the EL. The EL has the final say as to voting rights being conferred. To self nominate for EL, a member must have been an active member, here, for at least 6 months and not have been suspended for 6 months.

Would that work?
"But you will run your kunt mouth at me. And I will take it, to play poker."
