RIP Doug Parkinson who died suddenly yesterday. Aged 74.

An old friend of mine wrote this song for him. Tommy Emmanuel on guitar is one of the best.

Zookeepers 'devastated' as much-loved hippo Mana suddenly dies at the age of 26 at a popular NSW zoo
Mana the 26-year-old hippo died at Taronga Western Plains Zoo on Tuesday
He was a beloved animal but tragically suffered sudden acute heart failure
Staff from the zoo shared the news and said they're 'devastated' by Mana's death

Rest in peace
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

RIP Sidney Poitier, the first black man to win the best actor Academy Award, dies aged 94

Sidney Poitier — who broke racial barriers as the first black winner of the best actor Oscar and inspired a generation during the civil rights movement — has died aged 94.

Poitier created a distinguished film legacy with three films in 1967 at a time when segregation prevailed in much of the United States.

In Guess Who's Coming to Dinner he played a black man with a white fiancee and In the Heat of the Night he was Virgil Tibbs, a black police officer confronting racism during a murder investigation.

He also played a teacher in a tough London school that year in To Sir, With Love.
