Based on the long time it takes to build subs,

I think we should try and hire some off the US or UK as an interim way to speed up their procurement!
There has been no talk of hiring or buying 2nd hand subs.

There are 5,000 British skilled workers who could start immediately on the Pommy design.

But it took almost as long as the whole of WW2 for the French to come up with zero.

We should buy them from China.

They would be built in a week.

Perhaps not float, and would leak all the time.
But we would have some pretty land based subs on hand immediately

An announcement 20 years away is all politics and not real.
8 subs 20 years from now?

Any war will be over by then -
China will have invaded us and the lucky ones
will be pulling rickshaws for them while being whipped.
All others will have been liquidated.

We can't defend against China -
they have the largest navy in the world -
even bigger than the Yanks.
The United Nations should have stopped this situation
at least 10 years ago but they allowed China
to do a massive arms build up without a word being said.

They are no better than the League of Nations that stood by
and watched Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan
build up massive forces in the 1930s.
We are headed into WW3 and it's unstoppable.

To be honest.
After living and working in China for several years.

I would much rather China than the US or Islam.
And China knows how to control islam.
They have them well in hand in China and if islam was stupid enough to cause China any serious trouble.
There would be no half arsed effort like the yanks.
THEY WOULD FLOOD THE COUNTRY WITH CHINESE SOLDIERS WHO WOULD WIPE THE SLATE CLEAN.

Islam would be a myth, a non event and anyone being islamic would be RE-EDUCATED

President Xi is a leader for life
just like: Mao, Hitler, Stalin and Kim Jong-un.
He's a dictator who can't be voted out.
President Xi has all the hallmarks of other disastrous dictators from history.
He has built up a massive military including the largest navy in the world
just like Hitler's military build up in the 1930s.
Any conflict could lead to WW3 only
this time there are nuclear weapons.

True communism, without despot leaders and crooked administrators, would be ideal...think Star Trek.

But there never has and never will be true communism as long as human nature breeds criminals and those who believe they are better than everyone else.
