Victoria has recorded one COVID-19 death and 334 new locally acquired cases,
the biggest daily case tally of the outbreak to date.
Key points:

Of the new cases, 185 are not yet linked to known outbreaks
Businesses and schools are allowed to re-open in regional communities outside of Shepparton today
Disruptions are expected for weeks across V/Line services, with 110 staff sent into isolation

The death of Coburg man in his 70s was reported to authorities yesterday.

There are now 127 Victorians in hospital with COVID-19, an increase of 16 from yesterday. Of those, 33 people are in ICU, with 21 on a ventilator.

Of the new cases, only 149 have been so far linked to known outbreaks.

There were 39,027 vaccinations administered at state-run sites, with 42,998 test results received.

Sixty-four per cent of Victorians have now had their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with COVID commander Jeroen Weimar confident the state would be well ahead of schedule in reaching its vaccination targets.

"A bit more work to go, but we think we'll be well ahead of that original date of September 23," he said.

"We think we'll smash that by quite a few days."

Restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne are scheduled to ease slightly once 70 per cent of the 16+ population has had at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.

who sneeze and cough all over fresh food in the supermarket

I've even seen people like that in work environments -
people who have university degrees who

Victoria has recorded 450 new cases of COVID-19 as authorities urge pregnant women to take advantage of priority access to vaccines to begin from Sunday.
Key points:

Victoria has 2,793 active cases of COVID-19
More than 1,000 exposure sites remain, including new sites in regional areas
40 per cent of adults in the state have had two vaccine doses

The positive cases were detected from 42,765 test results and contact tracers have only been able to link 75 to existing cases.

Of the state's active cases, 143 people are in hospital, 34 people are in intensive care and 26 people are on ventilators.

Only 11 per cent of the people in hospital had had a single vaccine dose, while the remaining 89 per cent were unvaccinated.

Authorities have been increasingly concerned about the spread of Delta in Melbourne's north and west, with at least 299 of the 334 cases reported yesterday linked to those areas.

Victoria has recorded 392 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19, as vaccines and new pop-up clinics are being directed to Melbourne's hotspot areas.
Key points:

There are 285 cases not yet linked to known outbreaks
Five community vaccination centres and eight school pop-up sites will be set up in hotspot areas over the next fortnight
Five more cases have been found in regional Victoria, with two of those under investigation as possible false positives

Of the new cases, only 107 have been linked so far to known outbreaks.

The infections were detected among 48,063 test results yesterday.

There are currently 3,112 active cases in the state, with all but four of those acquired in the community. About 80 per cent of those infections are in people aged under 50.

There were 36,534 vaccinations administered at state-run sites yesterday.

More than 40 per cent of Victorians aged 16 and above have had both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, as the state inches closer to the 70 per cent and 80 per cent targets that will see greater freedoms granted.

There are now 147 people in Victorian hospitals with COVID-19, with 34 of those in an intensive care unit and 28 people receiving ventilation.

Only one person in hospital has had two doses of a vaccine, Premier Daniel Andrews said, and they are understood not to be receiving ventilation.

As part of the push to see more Victorians protected against COVID-19, the government is launching new pop-up vaccination sites across 100 priority postcodes.
