Latest news ABC 24 -

there are over 13,000 active cases of Delta in NSW.

Almost all are in isolation.
Outrage was sparked after an Australian town council shot dead several rescue dogs in order to prevent volunteers from breaking quarantine to pick them up last week in the city of Cobar, NSW, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, citing the Office of Local Government.

"OLG has been informed that the council decided to take this course of action to protect its employees and community, including vulnerable Aboriginal populations, from the risk of COVID-19 transmission," said a spokesman for the government agency.

According to the report, the shelter volunteers had Covid-safe measures prepared to handle the dogs - one of which was a new mother.

"We are deeply distressed and completely appalled by this callous dog shooting and we totally reject the council’s unacceptable justifications that this killing was apparently undertaken as part of a COVID- safe plan," Animal Liberation regional campaign manager Lisa Ryan told the Herald.

Shooting rescue dogs? Deplorable behaviour! Absolutely abominable!

Yes - I saw that story on another forum.
I am hoping that it's not true.
It's illegal to discharge a firearm in a built up area -
anyone who did that could go to jail -
least of all on animal cruelty charges.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian says she will announce later this week what COVID restrictions will ease for fully vaccinated people next month after NSW reached 6 million jabs and recorded 753 new cases.

Ms Berejiklian said she was "deeply grateful" that NSW had reached the milestone of 6 million vaccinations.

"I look forward to making the announcement on Thursday or Friday this week as to what fully vaccinated people will be able to do from the month of September because of the target we have set," she said.

"Thank you to everybody who has stepped up and got the job. That equates to 60 per cent of our population across the state with at least one dose."

However, she wouldn't be drawn on whether that new freedom would also apply to the 12 local government areas (LGAs) of concern.

The Premier pointed to ongoing suburbs of concern, warning residents to assume they have COVID-19 or those around them are infected with the virus.

"Suburbs of concern remain Auburn, Maryland, Yagoona, Guildford, Punchbowl, Blacktown and surrounding areas."

Of the 753 locally acquired cases, 283 were from Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 233 were from South Western Sydney LHD, 73 were from Sydney LHD.

NSW records 919 new COVID-19 cases,

NSW recorded 919 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8:00pm last night.

There have been two more COVID-related deaths including a woman in her 30s whose death was confirmed yesterday.

A man his 80s who had underlying conditions died at Hornsby Hospital.

There are currently 645 COVID cases in hospital with 113 of those in intensive care.

NSW Health has urged people in the regional areas of Bateau Bay, Toukley and Merimbula to get tested after sewage results highlighted cases lingering in the areas.

NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant said the overnight vaccination number of 125,000 people was key to reducing case numbers.

"I think this highlights the fact that vaccination is the key," she said.

"We need to increase those vaccine coverage levels and can I just urge everyone to take up the opportunity for vaccination as soon as possible."

Western NSW and the regions saw 49 cases overnight, with 35 of those in Dubbo, and five in Orange.

More to come.

These bludgers need to be turffed out, ill bet he hasn't worked a day since he got here.

We have enough dead beat bludgers, including the most parasitical kultcha on earth, we dont need to import any more.

Former Victorian Police Chief Commissioner Kel Glare says the public anger aimed at the police for enforcing COVID measures should be directed "at the government”.

“Police don’t get to choose which laws they enforce...the anger ought to be with the government because the laws are passed through parliament and the police don’t have the luxury of deciding which laws they’ll enforce, and which ones they won’t," he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“Police aren’t an instrument of government, they’re an instrument of the people.

“It is enormously damaging for the police; it is costing them public support and that will take a long time to win back.”

Let's see but I wonder what the number will be today?
Yesterday 919 new cases in 24 hours was the worst in Australian history.
