I don't think Dan will get us back to zero this time.

Sydney has been in a lockdown for 2 months and the cases still rise.
Delta is too powerful.

Covid-19: New South Wales to hit 2200 cases a day
if virus continues to spread at current rate
Lucy Carroll and Lucy Cormack10:15, Aug 19 2021

Almost 4000 unlinked mystery cases are fuelling the spread of coronavirus in New South Wales with fears the state will hit daily case numbers of more than 2200 if the current reproductive rate is not reduced.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant on Wednesday issued their gravest warning of the pandemic, admitting the virus reproductive rate of 1.3 indicated that the worst was still to come.

The state on Wednesday reported its biggest daily surge in case numbers, with 633 new local cases and another three deaths. At least 92 cases were in the community during their infectious period, while health authorities are yet to link 3803 mystery cases to their source.

Leading epidemiologist James McCaw, who advises the federal government, said cases will likely continue to rise in the next two weeks with the possibility of numbers reaching into the thousands within the next month.

NSW recorded 681 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.

It is the highest number of new cases the state has ever recorded in a day.

There was also one COVID-19 death, bringing the state’s total fatalities in this Delta outbreak to 61.

The man was in his 80s and had underlying health conditions.

The COVID-19 lockdown affecting NSW’s regional areas has been extended until August 28.

It had been due to finish this weekend.

The Western Sydney suburbs of Merrylands, Guildford, Auburn, Granville, Lidcombe, Greenacre and Blacktown remain the highest concern for Health authorities.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has again called out essential workers in the 12 hotspot areas to get vaccinated as the additional 500,000 doses are released.

"I know these are challenging times, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel," she said.

"They are difficult times for all of us, the next few weeks will be hard, but no doubt that once we get those high vaccination rates life will feel much better, it will look much rosier."

More to come.

NSW recorded 642 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.

There were four COVID-19 deaths in the reporting period.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the lockdown for Greater Sydney will be extended by an additional month.

However, this will not apply Shellharbour and the Central Coast, which will be classified as regional areas.

In one of the 12 local government areas (LGAs) under enhanced lockdown ordes, a curfew will be imposed for those residents for between 9:00pm and 5:00am.

The LGAs affected by the curfew are: Bayside, Blacktown, Burwood, Campbelltown, Canterbury-Bankstown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Georges River, Liverpool, Parramatta, Penrith and Strathfield.

She has also introduced a state-wide mandatory mask mandate for the outdoors, unless a person is exercising.

More to come.

Hi BO,
You now have a taste of what we experienced in Melbourne.
Today makes 201 days of lockdowns since March 2020.
Dan is ready to make even more restrictions and
we already have a 9pm till 5am curfew.

No curfews where I live Bobby. Life is pretty normal here.
