Hmmmm Chamberlain was a righty and a dickhead. Hmmm sounds familiar. OTOH that lefty Stalin wasn’t much into appeasement and turning the other cheek. Guess you are just a gormless moron, eh?

He was an early "British conservative" which puts him slightly left of the Dalai Lama and was actually a Liberal Unionist- so dickhead is correct

Some of us "righties" are really softies when it comes to sick animals and wounded/dead army peoples from the USA and elsewhere. Occasionally we think that armies are only for hanging handies off. I think that kids, male and female, should do National Service in Years 9 and 10. Learn to take orders, salute, march and all that, would do them a lot of good.

dusty,

You know i have to agree. I was around when CMF (or what ever it was called) was in high schools. I did a bit of service and it cetainly made me wake up. i learned to dispise and respect authority. Certainly learned when to keep my mouth shut and when to obey orders. Also learned how to get away with things by showing people of authority a little respect and they sometimes let you off the hook. For example, when I cop pulls me over, I show respect... if I am guilyt i say, "fair cop"... and 9 times out of ten they let me off. Clearly I am not the sort of person they enjoy catching. I has work even with the highway patral if I am on the border of their disgression.

It has life advantages.

It should only be for a year then they can get into adult life with a little real world experience and some respect fo rthe institutions that make our society work.
