NSW records 207 COVID-19 cases;
Liverpool man becomes 15th death from outbreak

NSW has recorded 207 new local COVID-19
cases in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.





Eighty-nine cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period and 21 cases were in isolation for part of their infectious period. Fifty-one cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 46 cases remains under investigation.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said a record of 117,000 people came forward for testing.

A man in his 90s from south-west Sydney died in Liverpool Hospital.

He had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in April.

The man's death is linked to an outbreak at Liverpool Hospital.

Ms Berejiklian again urged people to get vaccinated in high numbers during August and stressed that the vaccines were "working extremely effectively".

"We still don't know of anybody in intensive care who has received both doses of the vaccine.

"That is a positive thing. We know the vaccine is working and we need people to come forward and get vaccinated."

The Premier said efforts would focus over the next two weeks on essential workers in the eight affected local government areas and people aged between 20-40 years old.

The soldier is in fact "deputised" whilst the copper
does his job....

Apparently I cant play golf any more in SEQ....
I cant go to the golf course to walk around 9 holes....
BUT I CAN walk around the outskirts of the golf course....
To exercise....
With a mask on...
If I live nearby....
But if I dont live nearby....I cant play golf....
BUT I can walk to and back from the golf course....

A copper knocks on the door with a soldier..
The soldier is in fact "deputised" whilst the copper
does his job....
All instead of two coppers going around together...

But it sets a dangerous precedent where the army could
be used against Australia's own citizens.

Its a bit different from state to state but my understanding is that any
police officer can "deputise" any civilian if a crime is being committed...
That person cant go around willy nilly arresting people as he has no
powers of arrest...but he can be "enlisted" to assist a police officer...
In any case...soldiers walking around with coppers is not a good
look.....
