Victoria has recorded 16 new cases of COVID-19 as contact tracers race to bring the latest outbreak of the Delta variant under control.
Key points:

All of the new cases are linked, the health department said
Today is the halfway point of the five-day lockdown
Emergency doctor Stephen Parnis is worried about the growing number of exposure sites

All of the new cases were linked, the health department said.

Yesterday, 53,283 test results were returned and 16,751 people were vaccinated at state-run hubs.

Two other cases were identified in hotel quarantine.

Sunday marks the halfway point of the state's five-day lockdown, but authorities have said it is too early to decide whether or not an extension will be necessary.

Victoria has recorded another increase in COVID-19 cases as the state anxiously waits for an announcement on the current lockdown situation. .

On Monday, the health department confirmed there has been
thirteen cases recorded in the 24 hours until midnight,
bringing the total of the outbreak to 72.

Sunday was another huge day of testing with 54,839 completed.

All of the new cases are linked to known outbreaks that started when the Sydney removalists forced an apartment complex into lockdown and the red zone family returned to the Hume area and visited Coles Craigieburn.

There were 16 cases recorded in Victoria on Sunday and 19 on Saturday.

Victoria has recorded nine new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 as the state waits to hear when their lockdown will end. There were four cases announced yesterday bringing the total for the latest reporting perio to 13.

Premier Daniel Andrews will announce details of the lockdown extension this morning. It had been planned to end at midnight.

There had also been 49,454 test results received overnight. The total amount of vaccines administered in the state is now 1,416, 523.

The spread has not yet exploded with only 13, 16, and 19 locally transmitted cases of the virus in the last three days.


Correction - Dan just said 13 new cases on ABC.
