vaccine was never supposed to stop you getting the virus, it just reduces the impact of the virus. That is why the govt. can't yet give exemptions to those who've had a vaccine in lock downs... they can still spread the virus.

Actually, they hoped it would and it not doing so is considered to be a partial failure. Future vaccines probably will stop it, but preventing people from getting seriously ill and dying is still obviously good.

I believe that vaccinated people have a reduced risk of passing the virus on

vaccines are never about stopping you catching the virus. That's not what vaccines do. Vaccines just make your body better able to deal with it.
