Win11 is almost here.
Re: Win11 is almost here.
Some Unix was in some OSs, sure. Not sure now tho, esp with the new RISC chip machines.

I have never used anything other than Windows on a computer.
( but I do have an Android mobile phone)
Thanks Brian,
I believe Govt. Depts have Linux systems so they know what the source code is
rather than accept Microsoft and all their spooky files.

The Kernel started and was based on Unix/Lynx. So the architecture is Unix based.brian ross wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 6:19 pmMacOS is a branded version of Linux.Jovial Monk wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:14 pmMacOS is even better tho!brian ross wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:06 pmLinux is a better OS than Windoze. There are differences because of the different system architecture. However, the kernel is still essentially Linux.Super Nova wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 12:10 pmThe Kernel started and was based on Unix/Lynx. Most Government Depts use Windoze on their PCs...Bobby wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 6:45 pmThanks Brian, brian ross wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 6:21 pmAndroid is branded version of Linux. OK - if you say so.
I am surprised they trust Microsoft.
You do know that Bill Gates was forced to give the NSA
the source code for Windows as far back as Win95?

What I mean is the core architecture of the OS is Linux. Everything else is built on that Kernal. Therefore the core architecture of the OS has to be based on Linux. It has to be. What the developer or users of the system may not feel like good old Lynx ad that is not delivered by the Kernal.brian ross wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 10:49 pmThere are differences because of the different system architecture. i think you are living in the past too much. Microsoft as moved a lot in the last 20 years.
Hell their SQL Server database is faster and more scalable than Oracle's now.
Their server OS run many large enterprises.
Windows runs much more than people PC/Laptops.

The NSA has always had the full source code updates of all Microsoft software.
Even using Outlook email client and Microsoft 365 encryption -
the NSA always had a backdoor on it which was forced on them by the US Govt.
That is all about today's security not 20 years ago.

I don't believe the NSA has a back door into Windows. I believe they may want to source code to ensure it is secure.
