And forgot about Howard’s white elephants:
THE army’s newest frontline weapon, the Abrams battle tank, arrived in Australia yesterday and immediately encountered problems, with no rail transport available to carry the tank to the Northern Territory.

Its deployment will be further hampered because, at 68 tonnes, the Abrams is too heavy to travel across road bridges in the Northern Territory.

As the first 18 of the tanks were delivered to Port Melbourne, the operators of the Adelaide-to-Darwin railway said they lacked the equipment to carry them. Adelaide-based Freightlink said the tanks were too big.

“Freightlink has participated in a rail study with the implication for new rolling stock to be acquired,” the company said.

It did not say when or if it intended to acquire the required rolling stock and suggested it was waiting for contracts to be signed with the Defence Department before going ahead with the purchase. A total of 59 refurbished tanks were bought from the US for $500 million.

Transporting them north by road is likely to be problematic.

A senior Northern Territory shire engineer said road bridges in the Katherine Shire had a maximum capacity of 50 tonnes, 18 tonnes less than the weight of one Abrams tank. Road trains weighing up to 50 tonnes are able to use the bridges by disconnecting a trailer, he said.

The tanks, described by federal Defence Minister Brendan Nelson as the best in the world, have a fuel economy as low as 200m a litre.

There is half a billion dollars sitting in a shed in Melbourne getting rusty. Waste? Yup, HUGE waste during the Howard/Costello shambles. Then there is the structural budget deficit that caused so much deficit over the forward estimates when the GFC hit, Australian citizens locked up and deported as illegal aliens yadda yadda yadda.

$81Bn and climbing

There's never been waste like what the Labor party is doing in the history of Australia
Is that all you can come up with?
Ok, fine, you found a black hole with labor, but hey, be a honest as you can and do the same digging for dirt on the Libs, in particular Howard & Costello, be fair in you search and then tell me they did not have a problem with money, I am very confident the figure you show here will easily show more than double with the Libs.
Don't ignore what the libs have screwed with just because you don't like the best party Australia has ever found.

You will find IQBLOWS has an IQ of about 65. I listed a trillion dollars of real waste, in detail, under the Howard/Costello govt. IQ thinks he has a few million bucks waste in the BER. Why? Because The Australian told him so.

More excuses from the retard section.

Try to keep on topic. I know you have the attention span of a retarded goldfish by do at least try.
We are discussing the BER waste. Howard and Costello are gone dickheads.

Time to turn your attention to this failure of a govt rather than look for excuses.

Wecome Viking. You fucking dipshit.

Of course, we too could be like this:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/comm ... -1932.html
The Big Dip

With the US trapped in depression, this really is starting to feel like 1932
The US workforce shrank by 652,000 in June, one of the sharpest contractions ever. The rate of hourly earnings fell 0.1pc. Wages are flirting with deflation.

"The economy is still in the gravitational pull of the Great Recession," said Robert Reich, former US labour secretary. "All the booster rockets for getting us beyond it are failing."

"Home sales are down. Retail sales are down. Factory orders in May suffered their biggest tumble since March of last year. So what are we doing about it? Less than nothing," he said.

California is tightening faster than Greece. State workers have seen a 14pc fall in earnings this year due to forced furloughs. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is cutting pay for 200,000 state workers to the minimum wage of $7.25 an hour to cover his $19bn (£15bn) deficit.

Roughly a million Americans have dropped out of the jobs market altogether over the past two months. That is the only reason why the headline unemployment rate is not exploding to a post-war high.

Let us be honest. The US is still trapped in depression a full 18 months into zero interest rates, quantitative easing (QE), and fiscal stimulus that has pushed the budget deficit above 10pc of GDP.
With US and Europe in recession or soon to be even China won’t save us.

Here we see complete refutation of BER waste as it applies to Queensland:

Pity our lazy, low-quality media (and I include the ABC in this) couldn’t do the work to disprove the partisan hysteria about so-called BER waste.

Oops eh IQ_BLOWS? And you believed all that crap didn’t you? Never mind, another fraud and liar will come along and you can believe his crap. Saves thinking for yourself doesn’t it?

I think a few million probably did get wasted and not all schools got what they wanted but the BER was a stimulus measure above all and it worked brilliantly as that and will keep working as stimulus in the absence of much housing and non-housing construction. The minor amount of waste, very minor waste is acceptable for a program that had to be rolled out at such speed. Most schools are happy with their new buildings, the first in decades quite often.

Then we go through the endless catalog of waste under Howard & Costello, all of it unnecessary and none of it urgent so none of that waste need have happened. The voters marked all that with a big Phail on 24/11/2007. They will mark the BER as a big Pass soem time in the next couple of months.

Not a fuck up in any sense at all!
