Crocodile which I have tasted several times is bland beyond belief. Camel is delicious but hellacious tough—best minced and eaten as meatballs or sausages.

Have not, to my knowledge eaten cat or dog. Have eaten kangaroo and emu. Different lean meats but deelish. Have eaten frog legs—taste like chicken.

Strange things I've eaten:

Kangaroo meat - OK.
Wild pig - delicious strong flavor.

Shell fish - black mussels with fettuccine.

I love bread crumbed sheep brains cooked in lard as that was what I had every Tuesday with my Old Man as we went to my Grandmother's place for lunch that day. Dipped in tomato sauce.

Feral boar—yes, fantastic, rack of ribs cooked in the hot smoker, yum!

Goat is also fantastic—must be feral goat and either no skin or absolutely not a single trace of hair left on the skin. THEN you have goat meat without the “goaty taste.”

In Vicksburg during the siege of that city in the US Civil War the Union Army cut off all contact (the odd courier could get through via the river) with the outside world. So food supplies dwindled as did forage for draft and dairy animals. So horses and mules were slaughtered after all the cows had been eaten.

Surprising thing was: the mule meat was much more palatable than the horse meat, tenderer etc. Needless to say cats and dogs disappeared. “Where’s Fido?” was asked sardonically.

Siege of Paris 1870–1871 the animals in the Zoo were gradually slaughtered and eaten. Consomme of elephant’s foot etc. Some info:
