"Roads and bridges built by U.S. taxpayers are starting to be sold off, and so far foreign-owned companies are doing the buying. On a single day in June, an Australian-Spanish partnership paid $3.8 billion to lease the Indiana Toll Road. An Australian company bought a 99-year lease on Virginia's Pocahontas Parkway, and Texas officials decided to let a Spanish-American partnership build and run a toll road from Austin to Seguin for 50 years."

It seems perhaps that COAG has decided to prop up MacQuarie Bank, and some of its dubious dealings. Although not directly, but I spose the jobs might stave off the coming r........n.
Eeeeek
(I note it is a preference for Labor and its lovers, that when submissions to Senate and other places are made, they are undated. This has been a consistant trend from the underground for some time, and particulalry in the past few years.)>>>

Re: Infrastructure Watch
And so I ask>, is this some form of macro-fuedalism. A system where the privately rich pay, the surfs work, and the Government collects?
"Mr Rudd also strongly backed public-private partnerships that would help unlock private capital to build roads, water infrastructure and improve information technology. .."I am a strong believer in PPPs because they mean the Government can ensure value for money for the taxpayer through a public interest test, while bringing specialist expertise and innovation from the private sector,” he said. "

The big idea of running some grand surplus sounds nice, but what is it for? for the ALP etc to spend on its personal entrenchment? To finance pet projects; to fund the oligarchical needs and wants; to hand out grants to all and sundry proven Party lovers?
Meanwhile, the country goes bust, and the Party holds on to the GST. Now theres one for ya!!

What an abomination.
The howlers of the Left ought be ashamed about this sort of Red based education revolution. And so too, the likes of Murdoch; if he wants to complain about Australain surfs and surfdom, let him return home and do something usefull for a change, instead of pilfering the stock exchange.
And Mr Rudd and the ACTU should be held to account over things such as the Fascist and Nazi witchunt which they conduct, even upon small children, whom they wish to convert to a monological and affiliated mass.
Down with Labor.

"After nine days of high pressure negotiations the Doha Round finally collapsed. At previous World Trade Organisation (WTO) conferences and those of its predecessor, GATT, the developing nations were subjected to heavy bullying, all manner of threats and standover tactics.

"After all, if it is only the nationality of the head of state that we are bothered about, we could simply take up the proposal contained in submission No. 241 from Tasmanian Jim Campbell to this Convention. That submission proposes that an Australian royal family be installed comprised of, it is claimed, direct descendants of George IV."

"The Northern Territory Government should hold a coronial inquiry into the assassination of an Australian journalist during the 1975 invasion of East Timor, actor Anthony LaPaglia says. LaPaglia has called for the inquiry into the death of journalist Roger East, who was killed in December 1975 while on assignment in East Timor. The Hollywood actor plays East in the upcoming film about the Balibo Five journalists killed by Indonesian forces during the country’s invasion of East Timor. The 51-year-old East was in East Timor investigating their deaths."

"Labor has been calling for a national nutrition survey for years. The Howard government has belatedly allocated some funding for an ongoing program of food and nutrient intake and other measures of wellbeing. According to the Department of Health and Ageing, in evidence given at Senate estimates, this survey will cover about 14,000 people but will not be in the field until 2009, with the results not released until 2010, a full 15 years after the last national survey was conducted. There is also a survey of 4,000 children in the field at the moment, according to departmental officials at the recent Senate estimates round, with the results not due until next year. The massive gap in data over the 11 long years of the Howard government will stand as a perpetual reminder of their neglect of children’s health."

Re: Infrastructure Watch
"The Bali bombers sitting on death row in Indonesia have inadvertently reignited a debate over the death penalty in Australia. When the initial sentence was handed down on August 7, 2003, Prime Minister John Howard went on record saying that they should be dealt with according to Indonesian law and that there wouldn’t be any protest from Australia in the event of their execution. Just two days later then Labor opposition leader Simon Crean backed that sentiment. Last week, Kevin Rudd joined them in saying that they deserved their punishment."
