Jodi McKay Gone

Post by Black Orchid » Fri May 28, 2021 6:01 pm

Jodi McKay has resigned as NSW Labor leader, saying some colleagues within the party had "never accepted" her.

She had been the state Opposition Leader since 2019, but had come under pressure after her party lost Saturday's by-election in the seat of Upper Hunter.

She said if a leadership ballot was held today, she would win.

"I have always tried to build consensus within our party, but it is clear that although I was elected leader in a democratic process, there were those within our party who have never accepted that," she said.

By Friday afternoon, former leader Michael Daley and Chris Minns, who has twice failed to secure the leadership, appeared to be the only candidates to replace Ms McKay after Shadow Health Minister Ryan Park decided not to stand.

Labor NSW is a train wreck and has been for a long time.

Yup, totally derelict at being a functioning opposition.
