A notorious serial killer has taken on a new identity after his release from prison and is living in western Sydney.

Reginald Arthurell, 74, now goes by the name of Regina and has only a matter of weeks until parole ends on May 24.

Arthurell fatally bashed his fiance Venet Mulhall in her Coonabarabran home in 1997 with a piece of wood.

He was released on parole in November after spending 24 years in prison for murder.

Mulhall’s brother says Arthurell’s change in appearance will only make it easier for the killer to go unnoticed and potentially strike again.

The new pictures of “Regina” were allegedly posted in a Facebook support group for transgender people.

They show the killer in different coloured wigs and wearing glasses.

One picture is simply captioned, “Hi, I’m Regina.”

NSW Police are investigating claims Arthurell told another member of the Facebook group that he wanted to “take out” Venet Mulhall’s family.

That person alleged “Regina” had made threats to kill Venet’s family and members of the parole board once their tracking anklet was removed.

But NSW Police said they would be watching “Regina” like a hawk.

Arthurell had already killed two people when he met Venet Mulhall.

Aged 28, he killed his stepfather, Thomas Thornton, with a carving knife.

Several years later he and another man robbed and killed 19-year-old Ross Browning.
