workplace drives people insane

Post by Bobby » Sat Mar 27, 2021 8:33 am

The workplace drives people insane -
our lifestyle is unnatural.

If you're "lucky" enough to have a job:
The workplace is too stressful - it's like
walking on egg shells to try to not offend anyone
with the woke crowd in charge -
Everyone is given the job of 5 to 10 people.
You have to wear 5 to 10 hats.
You can't get help when you're behind on the impossible
deadlines that are set for you -
(without asking you first what your workload is.)
In fact no one asks you about your workload -
they just dump more and more work on top of
you and wait till you crack up.
Every company is short staffed -
a skeleton staff -
no one can get their job done properly in time -
everyone is faking it and
putting a false smile on their face.

I have been blessed with the perfect job. I work a different site almost every day. As stressful as a job may be, when it is over I can forget about it and move on to the next job. Most aren't very stressful. I usually work by myself and make lots of overtime pay. Even my travel to and from job sites is on the clock and I'm furnished a company car and gas and all expenses are covered. I am also dispatched from home and am guaranteed 40 hours pay even if I don't work that week.

That said, my job can be very stressful at times. I've had as much as $100M riding on my job performance for the day and many customers tell me that if I screw up, they will have to find a new job. My company has to carry heavy insurance to cover my performance and they expect me to be ready to perform at all times. I'm on call 24/7 and my company would not be pleased with me if I was too drunk to go to work on an emergency call. I frequently am called out of bed at all hours of the night. After 27 years of this, I have reached an equilibrium and have learned to manage the sudden pressure and unknown scheduling.

I used to be in that situation too sometimes and I ended up
working 18 hours per day and getting paid for 8.
You're lucky that you can cope with it but at least they are paying you properly.
I worked for arse holes.
It was an American company too. LOL

The owner of my company was one of a kind. He has sold the company and retired, but when he left he had at least 50 or 60 people being paid six figure incomes. He was frugal, but knew how to keep talent. I never once considered leaving.

That's nice but you can't keep up those hours forever -
your health will suffer.

Fair enough, have you always worked in the same field as you studied?
