ScoMo's Travel Package

Post by Black Orchid » Thu Mar 11, 2021 6:19 pm

International travel could resume in October once the Australian adult population has been vaccinated against COVID-19.
The recommencement of international travel would depend on a number of factors, including the country's progress on the vaccine rollout.

The government would also need to monitor whether the COVID-19 vaccines are successful at preventing transmission of the virus.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed today Australia was on track to reopening its borders by the October target, however there were no guarantees.
Hmmm we'll see what that means. Sounds like it means no jab no fly which is what was expected.

Meanwhile 800,000 half price fares are being offered to where? Mainly Queensland. The only flight from Melbourne will be to the small NSW south coast town of Merimbula.
The federal government has unveiled a $1.2 billion tourism package as part of its bid to drive economic recovery in pandemic-hit industries and regions when the JobKeeper wage subsidy is cancelled at the end of the month.
Australian travellers will have access to 800,000 half-price airfares to 13 tourism-reliant regions, subsidised by the government as part of the package announced last night.

Yet Palaszczuk is still bitching. She's being rewarded for shutting her borders and ruining businesses and her own economy and she's' thrown a lifeline and gets the best from this pathetic deal and she's bitching and complaining.

I think helping with internal airfares is a good idea.

It will hopefully help many sectors

It is but it will help very few sectors except Queensland.

No jab no fly was regarded as a conspiracy theory nine months ago....
Now it seems as though the plebs just accept it....
No-one will take up any of the half price fares as they wont travel interstate
and risk the border being shut...besides, the flights arent available until the 1st May...that the
middle of winter...
Its a half baked...policy on the run... arent we doing great job announcement...
The end of March cliff is sill there as I suggested six months ago....and
everyone is still going to fall over it....
Maybe SloMo should take a one way flight somewhere and stay there...maybe Timbuktu.... :rofl

Agree it's a shocking draft and with so many complaining maybe they'll add a couple more sleepy little seaside towns. Darwin's out. No Darwin's in. Nope it's out again. Oops it might be back in. Not that I want to go to Darwin.

The only destination in NSW is Merimbula. Population a whopping 3,500.

I find it amusing that the Federal Government in conjunction with the State Governments
can ruin the economy of Australia, and then twelve months later, expect Australians to spend
money they havent got to visit tinpot towns all over Australia in the middle of winter when
half of us havent got a job and the other half are in mortgage delinquency...
The country is in a mess and is run by incompetent governments who are propping up every
part of the community with gifts, grants and subsidies...
And the governments are being supported by media shills who help the governments
sugar coat everything.
I heard a little old lady in the mall today saying to her friend..
"The media only tell us what they want us to hear...."
We are being conned....

Seriously.....is this the best McCormack can do...
He says the government is "the white knight on the shining white horse...blah blah blah....."
The man is an imbecile....
Isnt he forgetting something....
Its ok to give people half price fares to one horse towns throughout Ostraya...but when
the plebs get off the plane....they have no cars....
They then have to rent a vehicle, hire an Uber or a cab to go everywhere....
The savings on the air fares are totally demolished by the expenditure...
AND why would anyone want to go to Merimbula FFS....
Whats the difference between Merimbula, Ballina, Coffs Harbour etc.....NONE....
They are all one horse country towns with a beach...thats all....a beach...
Whats the attraction....theyre all the same....
All we've got is a rock and a bridge....thats it....nothing else....
If youve seen one hick town in Ostraya...youve seen them all.....
Go ahead plebs...spend the money you havent got...
Keep on swallowing the bullshit that they shovel out.....
What a con.... :rofl :rofl :rofl

Ballina has at least 10 times the people Merimbula has and Coffs and surrounding suburbs has over 70,000 so they would be better choices. Merimbula has a population of little more than 3,000 people so they probably only have one cab.

How many hotels would a small town of 3,000 have/need?

This is laughable....
Byron Bay.....
Theres no airport at Byron Bay....
The nearest airport is at Ballina....half an hours drive...
How much is that for an Uber from Ballina to BB...then when you get there, you still
have no transport....plus the return fares back to Ballina....what a joke....
AND why would anyone want to go to BB...
The place is a dump....
Residents of BB have been complaining for years about tourists sleeping
in their vans on the side of the street having domestic arguments in the middle of the
nite, fuelled by booze and drugs....to the extent that a residents action committee wanted
the authorities to wheel lock vehicles in an attempt to discourage "tourists"
Accommodation in BB costs an arm and a leg...
Just to go for a surf and drink piss....
The place is a hole.....promoted simply because a few A listers live nearby...
Yawn yawn.....
