Leftist cancel culture needs to be cancelled. At least Hasbro came to its senses after backlash about Mr Potato Head.

Can't say I was ever all that fond of Dr Seuss to be honest but they need to be left alone.

My kids had that one too and another couple I can't remember, because their friends did, but I always thought it sounded like Dr Seuss was on drugs and creepy and the books weren't my first choice of reading material. I still think they should be left alone though.Redneck wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 1:33 pmI remember reading some of them to my kids when they were little, they seemed to like them.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 12:58 pmCan't say I was ever all that fond of Dr Seuss to be honest but they need to be left alone.

Little confused...
These books also happen to be the least read books from that author.
This company then put out a statement, which has attracted mass media interest... both left and right media, with a different spin, based on politics, with lots of free air time devoted to this.
Sounds to me like marketing genius. Not a cent spent on advertisements!
That tells me that they have decided to self censure. Six books will no longer be published because of a self imposed review. In a statement, Dr. Seuss Enterprises said it made the decision after consulting educators and reviewing its catalog.

I was talking to my son about it and he mentioned another book we had when he was a kid it was "Coles Funny Picture Book" that had images that would not be considered OK by todays standards. I think this was the one!

It's the new political correctness gone mad.
It's what Biden voters wanted.
Biden's organising a book burning session in a neighborhood near you.

The May 1933 book burning in Nazi Germany had a precedent in nineteenth century Germany. In 1817, German student associations ...
"Where they burn books, they will also ultimately burn people."
Introduction
Book burning has a long and dark history.
Book burning refers to the ritual destruction by fire of books or other written materials. Usually carried out in a public context, the burning of books represents an element of censorship and usually proceeds from a cultural, religious, or political opposition to the materials in question.
The burning of books under the Nazi regime on May 10, 1933, is perhaps the most famous book burning in history.
On May 10, 1933, German students under the Nazi regime burned tens of thousands of books nationwide. These book burnings marked the beginning of a period of extensive censorship and control of culture in Adolf Hitler's escalating reign of terror.
In this short film, a Holocaust survivor, an Iranian author, an American literary critic, and two Museum historians discuss the Nazi book burnings and why totalitarian regimes often target culture, particularly literature.
